X5105 Power Supply - Charger Issue Resolved

TopHat

I purchased a (Regulated 13.8V 5A Base Station Power Supply) from Amazon UK. 240V In and 13.8V 5A Out to the X5105. Unit charges fine. Used the red and black leads from the cable supplied, connected to the base station Red to Red, Black to Black and it works.?

Now I have to figure out powering the unit when I¡¯m out. ?Any ideas would be welcomed ?

Top Hat,

you have a couple of easy options for field powering/recharging for the X5105.
1)? Use a portable battery in conjunction with the internal battery.? Most folks who use this option run off the external battery until it will no longer sufficiently power the radio, then switch over to the internal battery to finish off their deployment.
2)? Use a 60W or more solar panel with a charge controller.? This one is more expensive but it allows the use of the radio for longer periods if the sun is out.?

Once you get the chance to work with it you will be impressed by how long the internal battery can last out in the field or portable.?
