Re: Xiegu X6100 HF Transceiver
I'm in the wait-and-see boat. I sent in a request for a review loaner on the 6100 but I won't likely make the cut. The GSOC situation has been painful to watch as someone who has advised companies on

I too would like to wait and see what the first run shows. I¡¯m sure they will also go through a period of not having stock so people want them more but it does look like a nice radio and they have

Re: Xiegu X6100 HF Transceiver
I ain¡¯t dropped the X5105 quite yet & the G90 is deff starting to ring surplus but, yeah, the temptation is still a-lurkin¡¯ by the shed door. Waiting to see how the first run plays in the fields &

Re: AM TRANSMIT DISTORTION
I think that is the consensus Stuart. But at that distance from the mic I believe you will find your modulation percentage is very low. Dale W4OP Sent: Thursday, October 28, 2021 9:56 AM To:

Re: AM TRANSMIT DISTORTION
I have not performed on-the-air (with another station) AM tests using the Xiegu X5015, but I have tested using the transceiver by listening to the audio on another radio (using headphones) while

Re: Xiegu X6100 HF Transceiver
I'm a glutton for punishment. I've Pre-ordered the X6100. I'll be selling my X5105 to my brother-in-law.? I'm in consolidation mode now and also may end up selling my G90 and GSOC, if the X6100

Read the announcement page this morning after it opened up with the price shown. Looks interesting. Figure, even with their saying that it's been beta tested &c, I'll wait a bit to see what the

Yep. Found the same thing: Choppy/distorted. Bearing mind that there's a deep menu AM setting and another mic level setting in the "upstairs" menu, I fiddled with both and was unable to come to a

Re: AM TRANSMIT DISTORTION
Try setting it MUCH lower, as someone else has suggested above.? Increasing the setting would make it even worse! Try setting at 25, as Joel did. -- Doug, K8RFT

Re: AM TRANSMIT DISTORTION
Hi Doug, Thank you¡ I¡¯ve tried that and no success. Tried modulation at 60 61 62 and 63 - did not improve distortion. I can see it on my spectrum analyzer and hear it on my monitor receiver -

Re: AM TRANSMIT DISTORTION
Downward modulation is not unusual for solid state rigs on AM. I inspected the AM envelope on my spectrum analyzer with 2 tone, and it is a mess at any setting I could come up with. A trapezoid

Re: AM TRANSMIT DISTORTION
Dale, I think Xiegu needs to bless us with another firmware upgrade for the X5105, but my experience with them is that when they get a radio almost free of bugs they quit releasing updates. Never

Hi Dale, I just conducted a test transmitting with my X5105 on 10 meter AM and found it was really distorted at the the default AM modulation level of 60, but when turned down to 45 it sounded quite

Re: AM TRANSMIT DISTORTION
I have tried all of the settings for TX AM, and nothing makes it better. One would think that the AM mod and demod would all be done in SDR code. Simply multiplying Cos(Wm)t by Cos (Wc)t yields
