?

For those attending Pacificon, a heads up about an interesting presentation on Saturday (10am Salon G/H).? Prsenters have been leaders in digital voice developments for nearly a decade.?

?

Jonathan Naylor, G4KLX, who developed the idea for multi-mode digital voice (MMDVM) hotspots and repeater modems, then wrote the open-source software to make it work, has travelled from the UK to Pacificon to talk about this project.? He plans to discuss some exciting new capabilities that will make it easier to work across DV modes legally.

?

For fans of digital data modes, he will also cover a high speed TNC based on standard MMDVM hardware and new firmware which will allow for 9600 bps in a 12.5 kHz bandwidth and higher speeds (up to 38400 bps) in wider bandwidths.

?

Jim McLaughlin, KI6ZUM, founder of ZUM Radio and contributor to the design of the original MMDVM modems and hotspot boards, will join Jonathan to talk about the improvements as well as new hardware being developed.

?

Note that our W6CX Digital Voice repeater uses a ZUM Radio MMDVM Modem and uses the MMDVM software written by G4KLX.? Learn more about MDARC¡¯s DV repeater at
