I'll still settle for the prehistoric W. Matty Starting to really like this... Didn't know that Buell was developing another motor source besides HD....good for him! Matty,
I'm smiling as I type this...I was going to warn you against opening up that Buell link <G> Here then, just as a special balm for your retro soul, is a link to some quality pics of old and classic wheels - two, four, and more - by a very good photographer/lister from RealClassic.com that he took at a rally this weekend. Credit to Kevin Dean for his most eclectic slide show. Enjoy, Pete C --- In W650riders@..., <musicmatty@...> wrote: *** Can't deny all the Tech advances that are being claimed ...but itstill looks like a Cock Roach from outer space to me. 开云体育My first motorcycling memory was being in one of
these sidecars...along with mum, Aunty Dorothy, her son Andy, her baby daughter
and my little sister Mary....So just the 6 of us in the chair./..Uncle Bob rode
the Triumph T110, and dad rode pillion.. I can remember looking out through the
rain streaked side window at the blurred figure of my dad with the?pre-unit
Triumph lump hammering away jusrt in front of his leg!
?
There's a faded photo of us kids and the mums all
sitting in front of the sidecar...The sidecar was so big it looks like there's a
block of flats behind us!?

If anyone is wondering, the bike is a late '50's or
early '60's Panther 500cc or 600cc single known by many as 'Slopers'. They were
built in Cleckeaton in Yorkshire and basically stayed the same from about 1920
until the mid '60's. Not the fastest motorcycle ever made but?epitomised
the 'one beat per lamp-post' slow revving Brit single...

As I remember they were ideally suited for sidehack service and didn't feel right geometry -wise solo.? Seems like I remember the cylinder head had the stering head mounted on it.? It WAS the front downtube.? 85 mph uphill, downhill, and off a cliff.? Pretty tho.???? Cheers? ?Keith Williams

开云体育They featured a 'half valve lift' system which
reduced compression to allow the starting kick, but would still run at
idle...

gearing..blam...............chuff..............blam..............chuff....etc
etc
