NWC: Satellite Internet Access Question

开云体育

Anyone using a satellite internet provider? We're stuck on a 56k modem that rarely runs faster than 28k, I was thinking of going to Hughesnet as the costs are coming down. If so, I'd appreciate your opinion.

Re: Anyone have a review of BT45's

Trouble is that tyres work better on some bikes than others. I first
came
across the BT45 when I saw it mentioned as the tyre of choice for
classic
Yamaha LC350 racers who evidently have to use a road tyre. I
immediately
fitted the same Avon Venom front BT45 rear combo and have nothing but
praise
for them.

A local tyre guru said the rear Venom sucked but the front one was
really
good and importantly for budget racers, WASN'T dual compound, unlike
the
BT45, so didn't wear it's softer compound edges out early.

I choose the BT45 4.00/18 rear for mine but the 120/90/18 is a better
tyre
for the W than the 130/80 which is actually fitted as stock.

Front was a stock size AM20 ( or is it AM21) Venom.

Everyone on this list who has fitted the BT45 has been complimentary
and in
grip and feel terms they are at the top of the list for our bikes.
Some have
criticised them as regards wear, but that's a trade off at the best of
times. A rear BT45 in the UK lasts about 4000 miles for me, and trust
me on
this, that's pretty good as over here our tyres seem to last about
half as
long as yours do for whatever reason...probably different road
surfaces...I
used to get through Pirelli Phantoms on my LeMans in 1800 miles and
the
Dunlop K81 I fitted to the W lasted 2200 miles to bald.

I wouldn't fit Conti's again....they are low profile and the W will
get into
a weave at speed if the rear tyre is to low. I also hate the feel and
grip
of Contis. Whenever I've had a hairy wet weather slide it's been on
Continental tyres.

Jon
I did a search last night on here and could not really find a review
for the Bt45's. I did read some reviews from BMW owners, and they
seemed very impressed.

So anyone have input I would appreciate it. I was thinking of either
the Dunlop GT's, Conti TK's, and then came across the BT's.
Currently
I have the Venoms, and have NOT been impressed.

Thanks in advance!

Re: NHC: onboard videocam?

I got a camera mount from CYCLE GEAR, it has suction cups on four short legs (which won't even hold the mount to the tank) which protect the tank. With the camera in place you can still top off the gas on the Hawk (I had this on my Hawk at ECHR 2007). I used to just bungy the camera to my tank bag..got some pretty good shots that way, but there was occassionally slipage.

We mounted my 8mm cam to Nance's helmet last year (the thing is kind of heavy, Nance has such a good sense of humor) and she got some very good video.

I bought a 20/Twenty helmet cam, it turns out your camera has to have an input, mine doesn't, so I sold that and bought an Oregon Scientific Helmet Camera..it is self contained, records to a 2 GB flash card, used that as my "tail camera" this year at ECHR, but it comes with a handlebar mount and a mounting system to attach to your helmet..haven't figuired out how to mount to my modular though.

I've seen setups rigged up to the gas cap. Not sure if they're out
there for the hawk though. Seems like a helmet cam would be too
jittery...
