#cal-notice
Field Day 2021 When: 06/25/2021 1:00pm to 06/27/2021 12:00pm (UTC-05:00) America/Chicago Where: Hicks Airfield Organizer: Jimmy Wille jimmy@... View Event Description: Like last year, we will be operating from Bret Stewart (AB5BS)’s hangar at Hicks Airfield. We will be in hangar 264 located on the far north west end of the field. We are expecting a converted ambulance on site for CW operations. The rest of the operating positions will be set up inside the hangar, out of the sun and precipitation. There is no air conditioning in the hangar where we will be operating. At the moment two operators plan on working digital, and no known operators for phone. If you would like to come out and participate please let us know. If you show up and wish to operate, we will find a chair for you. Those chasing to bring out a station are strongly encouraged to bring chairs and table for your station. If you would like to observe or log before getting on the air, we will have a spot for you. If you would like to come out and operate for a few hours you do not need to bring a rig or an antenna! Setup will start Friday afternoon for those wishing to come out early. If you would like to come out early Jimmy (me) will be there about 1300 to start setting up the hangar. We will have a couple of grills for cooking meals. We will not have a refrigerator on site but do have a few ice chests for drinks and food and you are welcome to bring your own. There is a coffee pot and microwave for heating up stuff, and yes we do have indoor plumbing. If you are studying for an exam, testing will be available all during Field Day! Again please if you would like to come out for field day for either a visit or to operate or to pass an exam, please let us know. Food will be served at mealtimes, so if you let us know you will be there, we can plan accordingly! If you are inspired to bake something to share, please bring it along so we can all evaluate it properly. Show up and find out what is going to be celebrated on Monday, June 28!!! Contact Jimmy directly with questions at jimmy@... or if you have my phone number you are welcome to call me.

Summer Field Day! June 27-28
Hey W5PHS Members! The W5HS (Fort Worth KiloCycle Club) Summer Field Day has changed venues this year due to COVID-related park closures. It has been moved to DStew's airplane hangar at Hick's Airfield in north Fort Worth (think Saginaw). All W5PHS members are welcome to join us from noon Saturday, 6/27 to noon Sunday, 6/28. We encourage you to come out, check out the radio rigs, get some air time, and have some good food! If you think that you will come, please let DStew know ( bret_stewart@... ) so that we can make sure to have enough food prepared. The official invitation is below. Hope to see you Saturday/Sunday! Best Regards, DStew (KG5YWK) --------------------------- Here is everyone's formal invite to W5SH's Field Day event at Hicks Airfield...264 Aviator Dr, Fort Worth, June 27th 2020. Society has changed for a number of reasons, to that end, we must have rules for field day to make it enjoyable for all. You are driving on an active taxiway, aircraft have the right of way. Obey all signage. If you cause interference with aviation frequencies, cease operation immediately. You are operating from an active airport. (This is a Private airfield with NO TOWER operations) At no time should you drive on the grass to the west of the Taxiway. This infield has lights and other navigational aids and can pose a danger to you and aircraft. No one will be allowed to attend without signing a waiver. See attached or we will have them available on site. Due to governor's orders, PPE is suggested, use is your choice. see rule 4 Hand sanitizer is recommended Restroom is graciously provided by our host, good aim is appreciated. There are NO facilities for campers or trailers Parking will be pull in on the grass south of the Hangar Coax and antennas are going to populate the south area, No Driving into the field to set up The North west area (beyond the 3 hangars) has a septic and leach field so NO Driving in that area It is likely an antenna or 2 will be in the north east area and space will be allocated for the golf cart so No Driving or Parking north of the operational Hangar Radio Bands will be declared and operation will be managed by assignment. Please bring your radio and antenna but realize that with 6 Bands there will be times where operation will not be permitted If you operate, you will be required to create an ADIF log file that can be uploaded to the club consolidates log All radio’s in the operation area will be on alternate (battery) power All operators will be limited to operate below 120 watts Antenna placement will be coordinated Drop off parking will be permitted in front of the hangar, but vehicles must be moved to the grass quickly. Antenna set up ‘can occur’ Friday afternoon as specified in the ARRL rules Sleeping will be accommodated in the loft Friday and Saturday night. Fans are recommended, it is not air conditioned but typically remains at ambient air temperature due to the insulation. If you do not have a radio, may operators, at their choice may ask you if you want to operate their gear, please respect this and be mindful of rule 1 No smoking in the hangar or hangar area All grills, smokers and cooking will be north of the hangar, this will prevent smoke from overcoming the hanger Coolers are recommended and suggested. There is not a fridge at the hangar so bring loads of ice. Lunch and Dinner are being planned for Saturday. Please notify the committee if you have dietary restrictions. The diner (approx. ? mile away) has limited hours on weekends We had planned some educational events, in light of the change, we will attempt to accommodate your education needs. Summer Field Day! June 27-28
Hi Radio Club Members W5PHS! I hope this finds you doing fine during this weird second semester. The Kilocycle Club of Fort Worth (W5SH) anticipates that they will be able to participate in the national Field Day which is Saturday/Sunday, June 27-28. I wanted to have you get the dates on your calendars. The event for us will be at Bear Creek Park on the southwest side of Lake Benbrook. There will be food and plenty of radio rigs to look at and play with. Several of us will also be camping in RVs or tents, so if you want to spend Saturday night, bring your tent. If you've been studying for your radio license during the virus shutdowns, then there will also be a testing opportunity at field day. This would be a good time to get together, before all y'all head off to college! I will update you on the event status as we get closer, but wanted you to get the date on your calendar. Best Regards! DStew KG5YWK
