SE-35 St Peters Dome Access

I'm STILL trying to figure out which summit will be my first.....and I'm curious if anyone has done SE-35, St Peters Dome, recently?? And if it's possible to drive right up to the peak, as it appears to be on Google Earth?

It’s gated one mile from the old tower.

?

The road to it needs high clearance vehicle and if wet wants 4x4.

?

Great views!

I have the right motorcycle to get there, until the snow hits anyway.? That looks like a long mile, now that I think I see where the gate is.? Shouldn't be too bad I guess though!? Thanks for the feedback!!

?
Jim,?
Don’t count on getting your motorcycle past the gate! Facing the peak, there’s a drop-off on the left side and boulders obstructing the right side.

We have a good relationship with rangers.? Please respect their gates/rules.

?

If you want to summit on an off-road motorcycle, consider Elk Mtn, 8049, 9114, San Miguel, 8112, and Capilla Peak. - fd

If it's locked or is posted I won't go through...or around it.? My bike is way too big for those kinds of shenanigans anyway....but I appreciated the heads up.

One time I rode my e-mtn-bike all the way up, BUT is was tough to carry it pass the gate with the drop off on the cliff side. It was possible with a 50 lb. bike, but would take a crew to lift a motorcycle over the gate. It is just not worth it for the straightforward hike.

Don't worry Fred....I don't go where I don't belong!? I've ridden up to Capilla Peak, but didn't bring my gear....so that's a return trip for sure.
And I hate to be a bother, but can I get the full summit codes for Elk Mountain and 8112 please?? There are quite a few Elk Mountains and I can't find 8112.
I sure appreciate the suggestions and feedback everyone!

Yep.....there's no lifting my 550lb bike over any gates.....LOL? ?I'd prefer not to hike that mile from the gate to the top....but I'm considering it!

Absolutely !!!

?

First off, be familiar with SOTLAS

?

8112 is W5N/SE-036

?

Elk is /PW-012

?

?

play with the sotlas site and you will find details on all the area peaks.

The only way the hike from the gate to St Peters could be easier is if it was down hill both ways.

I do need to get familiar with that sotlas website and will be sure to play around with that....thanks!? I was using the sotadata.org.uk website to try searching, so it's good to have another option.
?
Do most people use the sotlas website over the sotadata, or are they both useful in their own way?? Are they linked so that someone spotting on one of the sites, will also be seen on the other?

They share the same database so naturally stay in sync. In my humble opinion, sotl.as is light years ahead of the original SOTAmaps. :-)
