Dayton Hamvention Information
Are you interested in attending the Dayton Hamvention? What is it, you ask? Why, it's only the single largest gathering of amateur radio operators in the entire world! The Dayton Hamvention is the American Radio Relay Leauge's national convention with over 35,000 people in attendance last year! That's like taking the entire population of DuBois. And having them bring along every man, woman and child within a 10 mile radius just to get the same number of people who attend this absolutely huge amateur radio event! They have a website for the event: https://hamvention.org/ And a number of other groups hold side-conventions in Dayton at the same time. Here are a couple: Four Days in May (May 15)- https://www.qrparci.org/fdim/ Contest University (May 15-18) - https://www.contestuniversity.com/ If you are interested in attending they have an early-bird discount ticket offer available which expires on March 1st. Here's the link with all the details: https://hamvention.org/purchase-tickets/ 73. Radio Night - Thursday February 13th
Everyone- At the January CCARC meeting it was decided that we would hold monthly Radio Night events at the Clearfield County EMA amateur radio station in the EMA building. As discussed, they are to be held on the 2nd Thursday of each month which would put the first one on Thursday February 13th starting at 7 PM. This is an opportunity for all of us to become more familiar with the equipment at the EMA center as well as giving it a routine dusting off so we know it's ready for use if/when requested by the county. If you have a Technician Class license, or no license at all, you too can try out the amateur radio bands under the supervision of a licensed radio amateur. The supervising amateur will need to be General Class or higher if you want to try the HF bands. And besides, it's always fun to twist knobs on some nice radio gear! So please plan to join us... Thursday February 13th and the 2nd Thursday of each month going forward. 7PM at the Clearfield County EMA in the Amateur Radio Room. Thank you and 73. 147.255 back on air / DMR repeater re-located
Everyone. Some excellent news to relay: 1. The issue with the 147.255 repeater has been resolved and it's back on the air. Allen K3HOC believes that the power switch for the repeater was accidentally bumped when workers were at the site earlier. That issue has been rectified. 2. The 444.625 DMR repeater has been relocated from the EMA building to the Rockton tower site. I was able to carry on a two-way conversation with Tim K5TEL using an HT in the Bigler PA area and could hear Paul W3PRL here at West Decatur. So that repeater appears to be functioning as planned. Coverage should extend east to about Brookville before becoming a hilltop repeater, South toward Punxy and East to Philipsburg. Allen does not have the equipment mounted in cabinets but will take care of that task on his next trip to the tower site. If you have DMR capabilities, please give the 444.625 W3CPA repeater a try! 147.255 off air
Just a quick heads up for everybody. 147.255. Repeater is currently off the air. The GRS repeater however, continues to function properly. So it¡¯s not a power issue as both repeaters are controlled by the same controller. I spoke to Allen and he¡¯s going to try and get up there later today to look at it to see what¡¯s going on. Just wanted everybody to know what was going on. 814-553-5649 -- ___________ CCARC Group Email Addresses * Post: [email protected] * Subscribe: W3CPA+subscribe@ groups.io ( [email protected] ) * Unsubscribe: W3CPA+ [email protected] ( [email protected] ) * Group Owner: [email protected]
