An update this morning from the National Weather Service has about half of Clearfield County in the "Enhanced?Risk" area for the Tuesday afternoon/evening's?storm.? Please be alert for any county-wide SKYWARN nets - In Clearfield County on the 147.255 W3CPA repeater and in Centre County on the 146.850 W3YA repeater.? And if no weather net is active and you'd like to report significant?weather observations, please report directly to the State College NWS via email at??ctp.stormreports@....? (During?active SKYWARN weather nets the NWS office would typically be on frequency monitoring the nets and there is no need to duplicate your report via email)

CCARC members and anyone else who might be interested,
We need to get a count of how many people are planning to attend the 1st Clearfield County Amateur Radio Club Spring Banquet.
As you will recall, the Banquet will be on Friday May 9th at 6PM. It will be held at the Clearfield VFW in the back dining room. The street address is 1145 Industrial Park Rd, Clearfield.
We need to let the VFW know how many to expect. Please let me know if you are planning to attend and how many people wills be with you ( spouse, children, a neighbor interested in amateur radio, etc). If you are not planning to attend please let me know that as well.

The National Weather Service has updated their forecast?- Clearfield County remains in the "Marginal Threat" area for this storm, second from the bottom in terms of severity.? So it looks this this will bypass us for the most part.? However they have added a Wind Advisory for Tuesday following the storm front moving through the area.??

Regarding a 6 meter?repeater .... There is one on? Rockton Mountain, but it hasn't been on the air in many years.? The information from Jeff, who owns the site and equipment, was that it's not likely to return.? If he does decide to reactivate it, the repeater will operate on a different frequency.? Apparently the 52.9 TX / 52.4 RX repeater pair was issued by the repeater council in error many?years?ago.? Those frequencies?do not follow the 6 Meter band plan.?? () So if it returns, it will be on a different?frequency.

Jim has also passed away.? The repeater operated under the auspices of the "39 Repeater Club" from a tower site adjacent to where it is now.? For a variety of reasons some years ago the 39 repeater was moved to the site it is at now and the old 39 tower was dismantled.? Kevin W3KKC was the backup trustee for the repeater, but before Jim passed away, he made Kevin the primary trustee and Jeff WN3A the backup trustee for all of his coordinations.? The 39 repeater isn't in the best?technical?condition, so Jeff's plan is this summer to replace it with new hardware.? 39 was previously connected to the WAN system via an RF link which no longer exists.? No other clubs have any association or involvement with the .39 repeater.? Once rebuilt the 39 will operate as a standalone machine with no link.
- 145.270, which has the W3WAN callsign on it, was, and still is, slated to be connected to WAN via microwave.? Jeff said that due primarily to his lack of free time that project has been pushed off several times over the course of several years, but he hopes to get to it this summer.? We don't want to use the repeater ID for anything but the repeater. It is special. Repeaters get a 6 digit ID number. The ID we get for our radios should be 7 digits.

There is no problem using a single personal ID in multiple places, even at the same time. There is no technical reason we can't continue to use Rich's ID but I think it is best to use a club ID with the club callsign.
Thanks for picking up the ball on this one. I knew we needed to do this a year ago and it slipped off my plate. A single ID is enough, even though we have 2 radios and even if both radios are being used at the same time with the same ID. Having more than one ID causes issues if someone wants to call to direct or send a text message. The sender would have to know what radio and ID you are using in order to contact you. If you only have one ID there is no confusion.?

He could help sort out how this gets configured so both a user radio and the repeater work with the same call sign.??
