Re: Question

?That radio is a great radio, but I would also recommend the TYTUV380 and I know where you can get those for around $89 as well. In my opinion, I think it¡¯s a better radio than the 1701 but either one of those are good choices for a beginner handheld. You put the open GD77 firmware on it and it works great. I used the UV 380 all the time. It will also work on GMRS as well. It¡¯s a little more money, but if you want a hotspot that does everything and it¡¯s very easy to set up. I recommend the open spot.4 pro. ?That is the main hotspot that Scott is running Tim in 3PUL. Also has one and I have one and know a lot of people that have them and they just work. The only problem with the other hotspots is if you get a power surge, it can corrupt the SD card and then you have to reformat it And reload the software on it. I know Tim is having that problem right now with his Skybridge.?

147.255 back on air / DMR repeater re-located

Everyone.

Some excellent news to relay:
1. The issue with the 147.255 repeater?has been resolved and it's back?on the air.? Allen K3HOC?believes?that the power switch for the repeater was accidentally?bumped when workers were at the site earlier.? That issue has been rectified.
2. The 444.625 DMR repeater has been relocated from the EMA building to the Rockton tower site.? I was able to carry on a two-way conversation with Tim K5TEL using an HT in the Bigler PA area and could hear Paul W3PRL here at West Decatur.? So that repeater?appears to be functioning?as planned.? Coverage should extend east to about Brookville before becoming a hilltop repeater, South toward Punxy and East to Philipsburg.? Allen does not have the equipment mounted in cabinets but will take care of that task on his next trip to the tower site.??

If you have DMR capabilities, please give the 444.625 W3CPA repeater a try!

Thank you and 73.

147.255 off air

Just a quick heads up for everybody. 147.255. Repeater is currently off the air. The GRS repeater however, continues to function properly. So it¡¯s not a power issue as both repeaters are controlled by the same controller. I spoke to Allen and he¡¯s going to try and get up there later today to look at it to see what¡¯s going on. Just wanted everybody to know what was going on.
