Re: NWS Issues Wind Advisory
Oh, it was breezy, we had the POTA Hut staked to the ground,? but not enough to deter us. If you want to be ready,? you have to practice in adverse conditions.

Sad News
Everyone,
Some sad news this morning. Rich N3RBJ suffered a personal loss yesterday morning when his father was discovered to have unexpectedly passed away during the previous night. My understanding is that there won¡¯t be a viewing but the family is planning on a funeral Mass. No word yet when that will be. Please keep Rich and his family in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with this as best they can. Dummy Load Project Build
The January 2025 issue of QST magazine has an article about the home-brew construction of a fan cooled dry dummy load, complete with a parts list.? The total cost is said to be less than $40.? A copy of the article is attached to this email.? And the complete parts list from the ARRL web site is below.?? I think I'd like to build one of these for myself.? Is anyone else interested in building one as well?? Maybe we could make a group activity out of this little project.? Anxious to hear if anyone is interested. New GMRS Repeater
There is a new GMRS repeater in Brookville near the I-80 bridges.? It was initially planned to be on the same frequency & tone as the Rockton repeater and I was able to reach out to the owner before it went on the air so it is now at 462.725 with a 141.3 tone. It has a large area of overlap with the Rockton 650 repeater but coverage does extend further west.? This will be a good addition to GMRS coverage further west for travellers on 80.
