Re: PRELIMINARY FD RESULTS

Mark, and all members of BVARC?

Thanks to you and to all who stuck it out through the heat, humidity, rain and of course beautiful sunshine when we're we getting ready to leave on Sunday afternoon,.? We did a whole lot better than I would have expected.?

It was fun as always setting up the site and a bit more exciting taking it all down, but I think everyone had a great time.

I look forward to all the recommendations for improvements that will come from this year's event.? Continued investment will yield additional results in future years.??

Enjoy your summer as we all plan for Field Day 2025!

Mark,

Thanks for all of your efforts to organize, set up and operate. The weather was tough and caused some antenna issues. But, we can say we did it. The club worked together to work around problems and stay on the air.?

I enjoyed getting to spend time with other club members.?

Let’s hope for better weather next year!

CW - 925 for 1850 points
DIG - 315 for 630 points
SSB - 169 for 169 points
6 M - 42 for 84 points
TOTAL - 5466 points

Just for comparison here are last years points:

CW - 1010 for 2020 points
DIG - 289 for 578 points
SSB - 348 for 348 points
TOTAL - 5892 points

I believe this years totals are lower for a couple of reasons.? Weather was a factor for about three to four hours where we couldn't operate.? 10 and 6 meters were virtually non-existent.? Tuning for SSB in a couple of bands was tough due to the tri-bander not giving the best SWR after the downpours and the doublet not being able to be tuned for the voice portions of a couple of bands.? I tried to use an auto tuner for the doublet, maybe a manual wide range tuner would be better.

I don't have the totals for the GOTA station yet.? Considering all the down time I think that if we could have operated the entire 24 hours then we would have been on pace to tie or do better than last year.? All in all it was a learning experience for me and I hope everyone had a good time.?

Re: PRELIMINARY FD RESULTS

Mark,

I'll have the GOTA results ready by tomorrow. If I'm correct, we had 75 contacts on the GOTA using 20m & 40m. We also had one guest make over 20 contacts which should count towards some points. We also worked off of battery power for part of the operation.
