Locked Yaesu FT-991A

Hello group-

There seems to be a few of us that own YAESU FT-991A HF-VHF-UHF all band-all mode transceivers. I'd like to get a head count as
who owns the radio locally.

Perhaps do some memory programming as the radio has 99 memories. There is an extra cost programming software-hardware (cable) available. that many people use..
There is also a firmware upgrades available for thge operating system and also for the DSP. I am going to be researching the current lever of firmware and how to determine how to read firmware revisions within the radio.

Gaylin has one
Ken Davis has one
We have one
That makes 4 of us.

I checked the Firmware....
I have the latest:
MAIN V02-04
DSP V01-12
TFT V02-00
C4FM -15

To find the Firmware display page... You push the A=B and A/B buttons and turn it on. The screen will display all the Firmware versions currently in Use.

I'd like to make a contact someday on the national 2 meter C4FM frequency of145.56250. I also have a fustion HT.

There are also C4FM frequencies on 6 and 10 meters. capable of over the horizon digital contacts.. Only the FT-991A has that capability. Of course that requires 2 radios to make a QSO.

Thank you Larry
I am interested in the newest firmware.
For the FT-991. I don’t have the A model.

I found this YAESU bulletin dated 02/02/18
FT-991 Firmware Update and Version Identification
The latest versions are listed below with the release dates.

MAIN Firmware Version 03-01 (02/02/18)
TFT Firmware Version 03-00 (10/17/17)
DSP Firmware Version 01-11 (09/06/17)
C4FM DSP Firmware Version 04-15 (12/02/16)

*If you already have the above listed firmware versions, it is not necessary to update the FT-991
again.

Hey yaull,
Just to clear up some stuff here, yes I do have a FT-991 and I keep my firmware up to date. I program my Yaesu's using RT Systems programs. I also have a FT2D and a FT3D both HT's.

The FT991 and FT991A will transmit and receive all HF bands thru 440m using C4FM mode. To try it out you can select a HF band and select MODE and then select C4FM. You will see in the upper right corner of your screen a green DN if your AMS is off. If you select AMS ON then the green DN will turn red.
