Locked W0VFW Ham Club meeting and Test session scheduled for Tuesday have been cancelled
Patrick Schneweis KC?ZRY
Greetings to all -? I have decided to cancel the W0VFW Amateur Radio Club meeting and test session we had scheduled for this Tuesday, March 24, 2020. I decided cancelling all types of meetings (gatherings) was the most sensible thing to do under the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.? Our next meeting will hopefully take place on April 28th? - the 4th Tuesday in April.? The club has a few bills to pay from the February 29th Winter Extravaganza event and I'll go ahead and authorize those to be paid in the next few days.? These bills are for the the door prizes, raffles and a couple receipts for the food items. If any of you are holding receipts related to the Feb 29th event that you intended to turn in at the next club meeting please send them to Mel Graves. His email address is mel.wr0i@.... You will be reimbursed prior to club approval - unusual times create unusual circumstances. All the bills paid will be presented at the next club meeting for post-payment approval. Thanks in advance for your understanding and hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks the COVID-19 virus will be overcome and everybody stays healthy as this unfortunate global event runs its course.? I would like to encourage all of you to take care and be safe. 73 Patrick Schneweis President, W0VFW Amateur Radio Club |
Just thinking about the cancelation and the future and I have a few ideas to share.
Our goal here is to keep the club going and to continue in spite of the virus. Thus I share how we might do both. 1. Could we not meet via a conference call rather than in person? The Google Duo app would make this easy. Other such apps also exist for our smart phones. Then you could have a meeting and not be bothered about the virus. Also this email group can be used to inform people about alternative meeting plans. Info can be easily shared here. Folks who do not email have friends who do and can inform them other ways. And finally this is a radio club, so what about having a VFW net in order to bring the people together. Of course some matters would not be shared on air, like money specific items. Still this would unite your club members and provide a way of keeping us together. All this virus stuff has our world turned upside down. Still we can come together if we can but think outside the box. I would be willing to help in any way you need me to. We need to keep us together, not avoid communication at this vital time. This isn’t going to be over at the end of March. Somehow we need to come together and not let the radio club fall apart because of the virus and the new government rules. Thanks for listening KE0TGA Patricia Hawkins |
