Donating and TV for raffle
All,
When I was in ambucs, I found out each Walmart manager has a descretionary donation fund, maybe a couple of us can go to a few Walmarts, and solicit donations and/or a tv. With Walmart, it is best that two go. We can stress how important our group would be, in times of emergency, especially in tornado alley. I see the file. The IC 7300 is a formatible radio and extremely popular. It's street price has diminished somewhat- used to be $1295 but today one can be had for $999.95 Unfortunately I am "overstocked" with radio's.. One question unanswered is -are proceeds going to the widow-family or has VIC all ready purchased all this equipment and now moving it. Too bad he didn't take it down to the Dallas- Ft. Worth hamfest June 3rd. I did very well, there --- Ham Radio is much more popular there then here. But I still have a lot to unload, downsizing my radio equipment. By the Way, Both at the Nebraska ARRL State Convention in Lincoln, and the Dallas- Ft. Worth hamfest there were plenty of YL's coming into the hobby. See everyone at the Sidewalk Sale this weekend... W?VFW will have a setup there... Volunteers still needed. Bring water, snacks and lawn chairs. Larry W8LM |

Side Walk Sale Reminder....
The Radio shack Sidewalk Sale event will be this upcoming Saturday Jun17th... Sunrise to NOON.
WE still need volunteers.. II checked the 7 day forecast.. Rain before and after, but Saturday will be partly clouds- 92 high.. At 5am- I will set-up my 10x10 canopy, folding tables and the box of "junk" from the VFW. We have been authorized to liquidate it.? I have a cash box with seed money in to to make change. I expect my seed money back. Or if that's unacceptable,? arrangements for a cash box, and change must be made between now that Saturday. If you have anything to add to the sale, please bring it- the caveat is if it sells proceeds to the VFW amateur radio club. If it doesn't sell, you take it back, or it goes in the dumpster. All items are donation offers. So there will be good deals.? At the VFW we have raffle tickets. we coul dhave a 50/50 raffle or perhaps raffle a special item. I may donate as a fund raiser. Current volunteers are:Larry W8LMGaylen Kline? KE?QPG Micheal Holmes.. KE?WPG Bring folding chairs, bottled water or snacks to share. |

Re: May meeting post mortium.- SIDEWALK SALE PARTICIPATION. JUNE 17.
The inventory file - "W?VFW Equipment inventory 20230606" has been uploaded to the Files section of W)VFW.groups.io.
The items that should be offered for sale are all listed under the column "SELL" -with affirmation, "YES"... The values listed however are arbitrary meaning that we probably will not get that price, Especially if we are asking for donations. . Serialized items are indicated. The 2 G5RV portable HF antennas I recommend keeping- they were used previous years on Field Days when W?VFW participated. Let me re iterate that I will provide a canopy, tables and early set up at 5am the day of the sidewalk sale. Because I live closest to the Side Walk sale. UNLESS I KNOW IN ADVANCE OTHERS WILL MAN THE TABLES REPRESENTING W?VFW FROM 6AM TO NOON JUNE 17TH, i AM NOT ABOUT TO MAN THEM ALONE. NOTIFY ME BY REPLYING TO THIS POST AS TO WHO IS VOLUNTEERING- SO EVERYONE KNOWS. Anyone wishing to donate any "junk box" items to the cause may bring them to the Sidewalk Sale when they work it. All member donations not sold at the side walk sale will be sent to the dumpster. The intent is to clean out the surplus- junk - fund raise and NOT grow a junk box. Out space is limited at the VFW. I saw headWAY being made along with some setbacks. Setback being the WARC situation for field days.. Typical of my 15 year dealing with that group since I 1st came to Wichita, attended 3-4 meetings at the Red Cross and was never asked who I was, if? was a ham and if I wanted to join. I have other stories but my opinion only. FYI they have VE ham Testing June 3rd. Just saying, I am convinced it's the water here in Wichita, as living elsewhere and belonging to other ham radio clubs. as my QRZ brag lists clubs I've belonged to over my many years. And I was dumb enough to pay my dues for next year all ready...? The second set back - Gaylen..his operation next week. So I think it behooves all of us to pitch in becasue it's not his fault he an old sailor. topics we need to address - either here by comment or at the exec board meeting.1#. I am making headway on my rental. I have received a partial insurance payment for some of the damage the tenant did. However try getting a contractor these days. I have a guy that has 3 projects he's juggling plus he was to start enclosing my back porch 2 months ago, A project we agreed to over a year ago. Fortunately, this contractor is a good Christian and hard working. Anyone want to see his work. I am impressed. Still my rental is out of commission and not income producing. 2#.? I have a table for the June 3rd? Dallas fort Worth Hamfest. I will be gone June 2-3 as I need to get rid of things that are pre-covid and hamfests shut down for 2-3 years.? 3#. I do have an opinion that June, July, August and September.. We have the meetings in the Patio.. I and others would trade heat for smoke. A topic the exec board to recommend. Patio heat is still better than air conditioned smoke. 4#. We almost need to move prior to the EXEC meeting. regarding a junkbox of "stuff" we have in the ham shack. I will obtain permission of the Commander as it is VFW property, to be able to sell it at the Derby Radio Shack Side Walk Sale. A. I have a brand new never used 10x10 canopy. B. I have 3- 8 foot folding tables C. I have a cash box I can load with about $40 in change ( everyone has $20's and want to buy a $1 item) seed money we can start with.D. I can get tHere at 5am and set up the canopy and get a good spot. E. I MUST HAVE HELP. SO HELP ME - I AM NOT DOING IT ALONE!!! My supposed to last 10 years pig valve will be over 12 at the sidewalk sale. F. If someone has an item to donate to the tables with proceeds to the VFW you would bring the tables. G. Anything not sold? (VFW historically has asked for a donation) Will go into the dumpster.. or you take it home. no exceptions. H. Years past we rotated crews with trips across the street for breakfast..J. Someone could bring a cooler with bottled water? and or donuts for workers. k. The would run from 5am till Noon.. I believe June 17 as Field Days is June 24-25. L. Our selling junk and donations at the Sidewalk sale and at hamfests years prior has been the only revenue the club has except for membership dues. Comments ? Volunteers? please Reply.. Larry W8LM.

1. In the events section you mention April? Uh maybe not. 2. You do not have all officers listed. 3. The 145.270 repeater, should it really have. The extra zeros there? And the field day, I think we could. Say something better than what I read. After all members of our group will be running the GOTA station. And what. About ;visually Inconvenienced hams? VFW 3115 radio club started that and it is run by the club secretary. What about promoting. That net, as it is on our repeater and thus should be on our web page. Sorry Michael for all the notes, but if we are going to have a page it really should. Promote all we do and promote our people. Are there even any graphics?
