Winlink Nets and Check-In info

I'd like to pass along some info for checking into a few Winlink nets. I made a sticky note with all of the pertinent info in the format for each net which makes checking in a simple copy and paste format for each net. Hopefully this helps a few of you get started!
My info is as follows but you should change the info to your call, name, location and mode. For these nets info format is critical for their records and documentation.

I just started doing this and it's kinda fun!
?
A reminder for VARA FM check ins - you will need to used Ben's gateway, W0AYE-10 near Olivia.
The Willmar HHS gateway does not have Internet yet.?
Distant registered VARA users can use it's digipeater, N0QBH-4, to access W0AYE-10.
?
We discovered during the workshop that non registered VARA users cannot digi.?
When we get the HHS site on line, this won't be an issue.

One more thing to mention. After checking into these nets, most of them give an after action reports, net reminders and info on future training exercises which makes for a great way to learn and play around with various templates and functions on Winlink.

Here's a couple more nets to check out if there's anyone interested-
?
The Northern California WinLink net welcomes check-ins from Sunday afternoon through Thursday evening each week and even outside of those days without net control managers complaining too much - heck, we all like to run up the numbers! :-) ... no geographical restrictions and about 10% of each week's check-ins come from outside of the region.

If interested in participating in the NorCal net:

(1) Send check-ins to:?NCALWLINKNET@...?
(2) Format message text with Callsign, First name, City, State abbreviation in CAPS (ie CA), session type, client program used if other than Winlink Express, thru gateway, and band used if by HF radio or frequency if by VHF/UHF.? Example:?? K6KEC, Ken, Folsom, CA, Packet Winlink thru NC6J-10 via WG6D-5 on 144.910 MHz? (Note: the via WG6D-5 indicates the use of a digipeater)
?

Ohio Winlink Net:

  • Send a Winlink message to K8EAF any time on Wednesday.
  • Just a one line with callsign, first name, city, county, state and via what mode (VHF, UHF, HF or Telnet. Because we want operators to get started using Winlink, the Telnet check-ins are excepted.
  • Enter K8EAF in the “To” field. Subject field “OH Winlink Net Check-in”. In the body field enter callsign, first name, city, county, state and via what mode.
  • Example: K8EAF, Ed, Cincinnati, Hamilton, OH (VHF)
  • All check-ins will be acknowledged, and a complete roster will be sent later in the week.
  • NOTE: They will accept the ICS213 forms and the new Winlink Check-in form found in the General Forms folder. Test drive the forms!
