Awesome, thank you! My husband is also big into military history and gave me more of an interest. Started when we were talking chess.

Vlad Dracula's Night Attack at T?rgovi?te

I'm a little disappointed that the video has since been removed. I'll have to look it up when I have more time.

The article is long(but interesting), so you can skip to the end for the part about the night attack featured in the Coppola movie.

Re: Dracula's dungeon

I study military history, so the historical Vlad Dracula combines two of my interests. When I saw Chuck posting some Vlad stuff in the MeWe group I dug up(pun intended) some articles I had book marked. I'll post a couple more in separate messages.

Thanks so much for this, fascinating. I studied Vlad's history even more extensively after all the movies and it's very interesting.

Randomly interesting and only vaguely related but I enjoy patterns Vlad's first born son, Mihnea Cel Rau, also a bad ass,BTW, has all the letters in his name Mina does which works in nicely with her being the first wife reincarnated due to the fact that son, Mihnea, was the only born of Ilona, Vlad the Impaler's first wife.

Ground rules

Some of these things go without saying, but let's make it official -

1.) First and foremost, BE KIND. If you don't like something ignore it. Everybody has opinions, but we adhere to what our moms taught us in regards to what one should do if one doesn't have anything nice to say. Flame wars in the posts or chat will not be tolerated. This isn't FaceBook.

2.) NO POLITICS. Period.

3.) If you think it violates group policy, notify myself or another administrator.

4.) If you aren't sure something belongs here, ask an Administrator.

REMEMBER, THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN.

Never heard of Mewe, will check it out. We had to move all our PBM RPG games, many involving monsters and vampires if anyone likes writing characters, over to IO from yahoo as well and were worried about the storage, guess we'll find out as it goes what we can do. We have one on google groups too and it has way more storage, only mentioning if it could be another alternative. If you're not uploading files it's awesome, but we have to use google docs for our character profiles for originals which annoys me. I like io better for just uploading the files, but again we go into space. Not particularly on vampire topic, but yahoo has died and sadly not risen as a vampire...See there we go I spun it back around. LOL.
?
Thank you for the other group link, I adore all things weird and will totally check out the monsters group. Was just venting to a friend today about Frankenstein and Jekyll/Hyde novel points being lost in?earlier???? movies completely.
?
As for vampires, not that he is one, but Renfield has always been a favorite of mine and a character fascination.
?
Right now I',m re reading the gentleman vampire series by P N Elrod. It isn't new so likely most here have read it. I feel it's along the lines of Stoker's vampires and though not Dracula I enjoy it and the historical aspect of the series. To those who haven't read do check it out. Here's a link for more info.
Anyway, that's all my brain has for now, off to join other group...
Cheers

Re: Hi/New member

Thanks for joining. We used to have an all encompassing group for all things odd and interesting on Yahoo(before they dropped the axe) but because of the storage limitations here we broke it up into a bunch of different groups. This one is pretty much an offshoot of the /g/ClassicHorrorAndMonsters group and deals with mostly movie vampires, but I look forward to your contributions on vampires in general. You seem very knowledgeable.

ps, keep your eye out as we may be shifting operations over to MeWe if it seems to have some advantages to here. This is our test group -

Hi/New member

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Now that yahoo is dead I was curious about the various groups that should or may exist on io, so was searching for my various interests and located this group. I love the 'no sparkly ones.' Yas and thank you. LOL.
?
I love vampires, their mark on history and even science as well as their important roll in Gothic literature and modern literature. I love the different sorts of vampires as well, favorites being Mekare from Ann Rice's earlier books before, IMO stuff got too out there as well as Dracula by Stoker, His vampires with their misting ability are intriguing, and the contrast in their abilities vs the Rice sorts like Mekare who can easily go to church were she so inclined or handle a cross, but not turn into a bat. I guess they both have their perks. Those in series like the strain are also interesting as are the obvious links in Strain back to Stoker's Dracula. Those in Kim Harrison's Hollows series are rather different ass well and I find them interesting for modern literature though nothing beats Stoker and early Rice.
?
Well that's my long unplanned hello and I also love vampires greeting post. LOL
