When starting VARA USB Keyboard wont work, only with TENTEC Jupiter as the radio

 

Hi all,
???? So I tracked down the cause (kinda).? Only when I start VARA HF and the modem Sound Card is connected on the OUTPUT side to the Jupiter Sound Card.? The INPUT connection does not affect the keyboard.? I verified there are only default settings for the Sound Card for INPUT and OUTPUT.? The Jupiter sound connects via a Signalink with SLMOD5PD card and SLCAB5PD cable to the 5pin DIN on the radio.? A RS232 to USB cable for CAT control.? The INPUT sounds appears on the waterfall.?
????? When the VARA HF MODEM starts, the keyboard no longer functions.? When I change the OUTPUT to any other sound card the keyboard works.? Switching it back immediately blocks the keyboard.? Notice the radio was never in transmit mode.? No RF.? Just the sound card interfering with the sound when it is connected via VARA HF.? Any ideas?

Is your keyboard connected to a powered USB hub?

If it is a laptop keyboard then your computer should be always allowing you to work with it.
If using an external keyboard (USB,) then I would suggest defining it with device manager for the com port assigned by hub be looked at.

I would suggest looking at the USB device driver(s) for your hardware. I'm not talking about the standard stuff that comes in via Windows Update. Get the model number or serial number of the PC/laptop, and go to the manufacturer's website and look for hardware drivers. I've had cases were there was an updated USB driver and it did not get published via Windows Update, but applying the updated driver resolved the problem I was having. I really believe your issue here is low-level, down at the device level.

???? That forced driver update from the manufacturer (Logitech) worked.? I have no idea why when using VARA HF for SHARES killed the connection.? So weird.? Thanks for your advice.
