I created a poor mans program that allows users to operate VARA modem over bluetooth on a Windows machine. With the program you can then operate VARA with a headless (no screen) Windows computer. No wifi needed!! Some instructions are on my site below! This should make your mobile operations for VARA APRS just that much better and easier!

Suggested settings for APRSdroid are as follows.?
Smartbeaconing is the suggested interval rate. Times could be adjust to spread out the beacons more if you are on a more congest network. The current USA network can support many operators at this rate.

Messaging preferences are critical to reduce congestion. As with many new users they can add 2 way igates, which we often don't need, and usually congest the network unnecessarily. So reducing the retry limits to 3, and the retry interval starting at 90 seconds, while also disabling the acks you send out to once every 2 minutes will reduce the congestion significantly.?

These features are ONLY available in my builds of APRSdroid!
