2 Winlink Applications

 

Just wondering if I can have Winlink on one computer for running Vara HF and another application of Winlink on a different computer for running Vara FM. Will Winlink allow this if I have the same info (call sign, email, address ¡­) in ?the set up portion for each application. I have tried it but with no success so far.

I run multiple computers with Winlink and Vara running simultaneously with the same callsign both at home and at our OEM.

Mike,
Yes, you can have it running on two different devices at the same time. I run a VARA FM gateway on VHF and a VARA HF gateway on a different devices without any issues.

Thanks to all of you for your kind and informative replies. Now that I know that it can be done, it¡¯s pretty obvious that the problem is me (operator error). I will give it another go over the next few days. Thanks again gentlemen!!

Keep in mind, if you run two instances of Winlink Express on different computers, they will have separate message databases. They will not be sync'ed, so you will see different messages on each instance. Other than that, it should work fine.

Had my first Vara FM successful transmission this morning. Did it via FM P2P as there is no local igate and other Vara FM ham¡¯s QTH is too far and too hilly via simplex ( he came closer to me). We are thinking of putting together an igate , so I will probably be asking more questions.
