I have installed VARAHF, VARA CHAT and Winlink on a Dell 7020 running Windows 11.

For some reason I do not have the encryption option showing up. I am using my CFARS callsign and not the ham callsign. It is almost the identical system to my installation on my Dell 3020 which works perfect.

VARAHF v4.8.9 and Vara Chat v1.4.1 running on both systems.

I have completely removed and reinstalled both VARAHF and VARA Chat to no avail. As well as copying the complete VARA directory from one system to the other but still no encryption.

Any thoughts on what to try next?

Well the problem is resolved...sort of.

I replaced my VARA folder with one that I had from a recent backup. It contained Vara Chat v1.3.5 and VARAHF v4.8.7.

Bingo, I now have the encryption option available to Winlink and VARA Chat. Upgraded to Vara Chat v1.4.1 and all still ok. Upgrade VARAHF to v4.8.9 and the encryption option is gone again.

So repeated the replacing of the VARA folder and just upgraded Vara Chat. I will keep using VARAHF v4.8.7 until the next upgrade and try it again.

I have reported this to EA5HVK and perhaps he has a solution for my delema.
