Vara HF - adjusting ALC on FT-891

Terry Brown All Messages By This Member #8092 I know this must be very obvious, but I cannot find the answer.? I have my FT-891 setup through a digirig to Winlink Express running Vara HF. ? When I press the Tune in Vara, the ALC is very high.? How do I reduce the ALC on the FT-891??? ? I have tried the RF control, and that does nothing.? in the FT-891 io group it says in USB mode (I am using USB-digital) to reduce the mic gain.? That is no help either.

But probably the best place so that it does not upset any other programs digital level in on the Vara HF modem program.?? Go to <settings><Soundcard> Hit the tune button and adjust the slider.? N3JXB (Douglas) All Messages By This Member #8096 As others pointed out, there is a drive level right next to the Tune button. But just for future reference, Windows has a volume control that applies to individual apps. This allows you to adjust specific apps for specific volumes without messing with the master volume. And some apps such as WSJT-X (and its various versions), JS8Call, MMSSTV, all have built-in drive level control that are isolated just to that app. And many of those apps retain the drive level per band.
