Hello everyone.

I'm using Microsoft Surface 4 on Windows 11. Latest versions of WinLink VARA HF, FM, & AC. Works fine when my Surface 4 force install Windows 10 to 11.?

Using FT-857D with DigiRig Radio sound card with Original DigiRig cables. Running 100w settings on FT-857D but using only 50w on WSJT-X. My ALC is 70% per instructions of Roger Yaesu Technical Support.

PSKREPORTER and Gridtracker works. Only thing that doesn't work is WIRES-X. Need to replace SCU-19 to updated version SCU-57 for FT-3DR or FT-5DR or SCU-58 for FTM-400 XDR.

It works OK for me. I'm running the Windows11 VM provided with Parallels exactly on a M1 Mac Pro

Eddie,

You have found a workaround really, not a proper fix.

For data modes your radio should be in USB-D which in most cases disables filters, EQ, Compression, etc.

Yes, it was very helpful. ?When I operate in the field with my IC-705, I typically use my JPC-12 vertical antenna. Although it will operate on many bands, none below 7MHz and different bands need to be tuned manually. ?So when I setup I tune the antenna for the 40m band because I find that works best for Winlink. ?It's so much easier to let winlink do the work and find an open channel.

That has nothing to do with Winlink Express.

It sounds like a bug in VarAC's CAT command library for his radio model. That's my guess.

I don't have a Yaesu radio, but my guess is in the VARA HF Winlink settings you have the USB Digital mode selected.
Try un-setting it and try it again.
I had to fiddle with this for quite a while before I could get my IC-7600 to recognize the USB sound interface because USB Digital was set to USB-D1 getting the sound in from the MIC and not USB (internal Sound Card)
Funny thing is, my FT-817 has to be in "DIG" mode manually if I'm using an external interface like Signaling.

Contact a business band provider. They can tailor your license for encryption to address your particular application. My business band license allows me to encrypt as I see fit for my business needs (primarily HIPAA compliance). If you are still unclear about obtaining a tailored license from a business band provider then I recommend you stay away from business band licensing.

i check winlink email on 2m with a FT-857D and FT-818.

using VARA FM
packet mode
Signalink USB

the RMS is about (15) miles away and the exchange goes very fast - maybe about a minute to send one or two emails.

on HF it takes something like 5-10 minutes for similar exchange with an RMS in neighboring state or a bit farther, but that might be the limitations of my antenna in play . . .?

Note that you can have multiple lines with small groups of frequencies enabled if that would be helpful.

Hello to all,

Yesterday I upgraded to VarAC 8.0.6. Every time I change frequencies using the drop down menu, it changes my rig (Yaesu FTDX-5000D) into Packet mode. I have to hit the USB switch you get it out of packet mode. This also
occurs when it switches to the slot frequency and returns back to the calling frequency.

This hasn¡¯t with the previous versions. Very strange

Thank you all. ?I found the settings. ?Although not in Vara HF, you have to open a Vara HF session to the the options under Settings.

You can not find it in VARA-HF settings.
VARA-HF is just a great modem program.
The setting is done in Winlink Express.
