Would you like to be the next VAC Liaison(s)?
Hello, VAC parents, especially parents of 9th and 10th graders! Lauren Pacuit and I (Erica Spotts) are the current VAC Liaisons and are planning on doing it through next year when our kids are seniors. But we’d love to start passing on our knowledge to the next parent(s) who will take our place. It’s a great way to get involved with AEHS and VAC and it’s a pretty minimal lift. Here’s what we do: -A social/fundraiser for parents in the fall and spring -Organize the concessions for the annual VAC art show -Serve as a liaison to PACE (Patrons of the Arts Community at Einstein) -Other small things that help out VAC teachers Reach out to Lauren (LaurenJay@...) or me (Erica.spotts@...) if you have questions and/or are interested!

Happy new school year! There is a VAC Student Breakfast (for students only) on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7:00 a.m. for those who can be dropped of a bit early. Students will hear about it in VAC class.

Carpool from Olney, anyone?

Hi everyone! I am a new VAC parent and we live in Brookeville, MD. Is anyone interested in setting up a carpool for drop-offs and/or pickups between Olney and AEHS. MCPS doesn’t offer any magnet bus routes to VAC. Thanks!

Hey VAC fam, Sorry you are being inundated with emails! We need two people to sign up to help moderate the Listserv. I am not a techy by any means, so if I can do it, so can you! All the moderator really has to do is approve members. Our Listserv does not get a lot of traffic so it is not a demanding role at all! Will you help us out? Hello VAC Families, We have one more upcoming event on May 30th from 5-7 pm at Karlee's Deli in Kensington. This is a parent social. We will be greeting incoming families and saying farewell to our senior families! If you know any incoming VAC families, please forward this to them! Karlee will donate 10% of the daily proceeds to the VAC and 15% of the proceeds during the social! Come on out and meet some new friends and say goodbye! Please see the attached flyer for the event. Karlee will be raffling off a basket of all her goodies again! I was very jealous that I did not win the raffle last year! To purchase a single ticket it costs $5 and to purchase 5 tickets, the cost is $20. [einsteinhs] AEHS Arts Updates: Multiple AEHS Students Awarded! / Staff Award / May Events
LOTS of amazing news in the arts!! See the PACE email below! I'm always saying how much artistic talent we have at this school and what a wonderful staff we have. It's not just me that thinks so! This week multiple AEHS students won or were nominated for awards in photography and theater. And, the cherry on top, Greg Casement, our instrumental music director, won the MCCPTA Teacher of the Year award. How fantastic is that! Read on for details. We also have many important events this month, so take note below and update your calendars. The Choral Concert has been moved to Monday, July 13! CONTENTS AEHS student recognized at the National PTA Reflections Program We have Cappies Nominees! AEHS has a nominee for BEST ACTOR for Beauty and the Beast by the Brandon Victor Dixon Awards Program AEHS IM Director selected as Teacher of the Year by MCCPTA Spring Choral Concert (New date!!!) VAC Art Show Spring Instrumental Music Concert VAPA Senior Showcase & Awards Spring Jazz Bands Concert AEHS student recognized at the National PTA Reflections Program One of our AEHS students, Lauren Chiu, received and honor in the National PTA Reflections Program! Lauren Chiu received an award of merit for her photograph "Down by 10" at the national level. This photo will be featured in the National PTA's virtual exhibition. Our nominees: EITAN AMSTER (Comic Actor in a Male Role) ANJALI SHAH (Comic Actor in a Female Role) RAY JEWELL and GAVIN JOHANSSON (Creativity - specifically musicianship) JULIE KESSEL (Rising Critic) Brandon Victor Dixon Awards Program selects Junior SEGER OTT-RUDOLPH (The Beast) for recognition as a nominee for BEST ACTOR for Beauty and the Beast. This year Einstein STAGE entered the Brandon Victor Dixon Awards Program - this is the local arm of the national Jimmy Awards for High School Musical Theatre. A panel of judges viewed our production of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and has selected junior SEGER OTT-RUDOLPH (The Beast) for recognition as a nominee for BEST ACTOR. He will move on to a round two of evaluations, and if selected as a finalist he would go on to the finals on May 25 - and then, if selected as the Best Actor winner, he would participate in the nationwide Jimmy Awards in New York City in June! Let's congratulate him and wish him luck as our first - ever Brandon Victor Dixon award nominee! (BTW the award is named after the Broadway actor who grew up in the DC area and is currently Tony Award - nominated for his role in the current hit musical HELL'S KITCHEN, with music by Alicia Keys. Greg Casement Named MCCPTA Teacher of the Year The Montgomery County Council of PTAs has recognized AEHS Instrumental Music Director Greg Casement as 'Teacher of the Year"! Please join us all in congratulating Mr. Casement for this prestigious achievement. We all know what a fabulous educator he is and now we know that is recognized outside of our school community.
