I have seen an account that my 4th great grandmother, Mary Turman, was a cousin to George W. but I have not seen an actual accounting of it. I will claim that distinction anyway.

Hi

?My 40 plus years of research and my brother, David's, Harris Group 8 Y-DNA prove and confirm that we trace back to our Captain Thomas Harris who came to Jamestown in 1611.

?Our Harris line traces back through our William Harris/Judith Hudson, who re-married Judith Wilborn and his son, our William Harris/Frances Goode, who re-married Ann, and who both lived and died in the Blue Stone Creek area of Lunenburg Co, Va that later became Mecklenburg Co, Va.

Records prove that on the same day of March 24, 1725 that our William Harris/Mary obtained a patent for 400 acres on the South side of Cubb Creek in Hanover, now Louisa Co, Va, his son, our William Harris/Judith Hudson obtained a patent for 400 acres on both sides of Harris Fork of Cubb Creek in also Hanover, now Louisa Co, Va.

Our William Harris/Mary and his brother, Edward Harris/Mary/Elizabeth were the sons of our Major William Harris/2nd wife, Alice, who died in 1678 in Henrico Co, Va and our Major William Harris was the son of our Captain Thomas Harris/Audrey Hoare who had come to Jamestown in 1611.

Some time before 1743, our William Harris/Judith Hudson sold 206 acres of his patent land on both sides of Harris Fork of Cubb Creek to John Blalock.

?In 1743, having moved to Brunswick Co, Va and to the area that later became Halifax Co, Va and on almost the same day of August of 1743 that our William Harris/Judith Hudson sold 62 acres on both sides of Harris Fork of Cubb Creek to his brother, Stephen Harris, his brother, Edward Harris/Ann, sold 50 acres on the South side of Cubb Creek to another William Harris, who by 1757 was in Goochland Co, VA.

Records show that the William Harris of Goochland Co, Va was the son of Edward Harris/Mary, brother of our William Harris/Mary, again, sons of our Major William Harris/Alice.

By 1751, Edward Harris/Ann had followed his brother, our William Harris/Judith Hudson, on into Lunenburg Co, Va and he purchased land in the area of Lunenburg that later became Charlotte Co, Va.

By 1774, our William Harris/Frances Rodgers, son of our William Harris/Frances Goode, had moved to Laurens Co, SC and later by 1790/1800, three of Edward Harris'/Ann sons, Stephen Harris; Edward Harris, Jr; and Braddock Harris had also moved to Laurens Co, SC.

Having now proved and confirmed our entire Harris line and family, my brother, David, and myself are now proud and honored to be recent members of The Jamestowne Society through our Captain Thomas Harris.

Sincerely yours,
Belva Harris Cauthen
