Any advice on replacement for U3 's threading attachment lead cutting screws and followers #U3accesory

Having difficulty finding my way in all the archived messages, files and what have you, I just hope that some members out there might advice me on what alternatives there are to get the lead cutters and followers for the Unimat 3? Any advice will be highly appreciated

Herman

Hi Herman
You can look into the link to making your own threading attachment for the U3.? One of the other members directed me to it.? If I find it again I will send it.
?I am in the process of building that configuration now.
You can either 3D print the gears and then make the metal parts in the plan, or what I did is purchase delrin (and Nylon)? gears from McMaster Carr and plan to modify them.
All the gears together cost about $100.? All of them are available in delrin except the 25 tooth.? They are only available in nylon.

The reason I went this route is that delrin is much smoother and quieter than PLA gears and I also want to figure out a way to turn it into a changeable power feed.?? I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi Stephen,

Many thanks here, looks impressive! I am not that far advanced yet to produce my own thread cutting set. l I just so happen to have an original EMCO thread cutting set (without the guides and jaws though). What's more, I also recently bought from the EMCO shop their new hand thread cutter attachment - just some €100 I believe). You can order directly from EMCO through this link:? ? - look for the Gewindeschneideinrichtung. It's just unfortunate that all of this is only in German, and besides, the webshop is not really that easy to navigate.

I also have the threading attachment for the U3 but misses some parts, lead cutters and followers. But is there anyone use this assessory? I can't see any pictures on a U3 with this accessory mounted. And no Youtube either. Is it a hard using attachment? Is it better make one by myself? Advise, please!
