Re: unimat 3d model project
If you are going to post a drawing please consider/remember a couple of things: 1) Let every body know what your basic drawing units are, inches, millimeters, cubits - whatever.? Not everybody uses

Re: unimat 3d model project
/g/Unimat/files/Unimat_SL_Tailstock_Ram.pdf I found that in the files section here last night, not sure if you've come across it/if that helps you any. I gave in and brought mine to

Re: Unimat 3 Paint Color
Yesterday I went to the automotive paint store. The part that I brought in was too small for them to scan it. It was an arm off of the threading attachment. I now know that something larger is needed

Re: unimat 3d model project
I had trouble with CAD models I was sending out until I discovered a setting in my CAD which defines the units used. (The range runs from ?ngstroms to Parsecs, which seems a bit ridiculous.)

For the record, I'm not an 'activist', just a normal person with normal concerns about what we're leaving behind for future generations. And you have absolutely no right to tell me what I should or

Re: unimat 3d model project
Or maybe you were saying that's what it should be.? In that case, yea I believe so.? from the model I show it to be 35.946.? some googling says it should be 1.42" (36.068).? Not sure how close is

Re: unimat 3d model project
I haven't measured anything from mine yet, just using files already out there.? Are you saying 36mm (and that model) is wrong?
By rick@... · #62750 ·
Re: unimat 3d model project
Thanks! I¡¯m not sure¡ the distance from the top of the arch that sits on the way bar to the center of the quill hole (vertical distance) should be the center height of a Unimat. That is 36mm.

Re: unimat 3d model project
Try "Tail Stock v2" in the files, see if that works for you

Re: unimat 3d model project
I opened the stl one that is in the files section and it was also in meters, so I think multiplying by 1000 will get you to the right scale.
By rick@... · #62745 ·
Re: unimat 3d model project
and I guess to be sure, are you talking about the linked onshape one?

Re: unimat 3d model project
try x1000 When I open it, it says its "units" are in meters.? Should the bore/hole be 12mm?? That's what I show. I can export it and upload it here if that helps

Re: unimat 3d model project
I tried it Mike, but it comes out half inch high. This is what the stl viewer shows: (I use it all the time so I trust it)

That's great! I wanted to do some things like that, but! First, I was a stupid young punk in 1969 when I had a class in mechanical drawing, and blew it off. Over the last dozen or so years, I've tried

Re: unimat 3d model project
Beware of the tailstock. I started working on it and it is TINY¡ less than a millimeter in all directions. Just a dot when imported into Tinkercad. Now I need to figure out how to scale it properly.
