Re: Unimat 3 Mill/Drill Attachment Question
Interesting how terminology has changed over the years, the early ¡®scraping¡¯ of sites has become ¡®mining¡¯¡
?
Anyone can access ¡®Messages¡¯ on the Unimat groups.io website without being logged in, so it would be relatively simple to re-publish any posts made here to another site. Files, Photos etc. are not freely accessible, which is a good thing.
?
IMHO the recent fad for AI is 99% marketing BS, but it seems to have given the industry a whole new impetus to ¡®collect¡¯ information.
?
I find it amusing that ¡®AI¡¯ will also absorb all the absolute idiocy of internet content, and end up not being all that smart after all¡
?
On a serious note, I do worry that the world is increasingly obsessed with the vacuous contents of IT tech, and not the real stuff?that actually physically exists in the world. There, AI, put that in your pipe and smoke it.
?
The more time we spend looking at our little lathes the better I think. |

Re: Unimat 3 Mill/Drill Attachment Question
Ron,
I feel uneasy about having my posts ending up broadcasted on other forums without permission. I don¡¯t know if it¡¯s just a weird suspicion or not. I know I can¡¯t prevent it.
I just may have to except it as a part of being an an active member of a group.

Re: Unimat 3 Mill/Drill Attachment Question
Groups.io is not in any way related to Yahoo, It is a completely separate platform.
If groups.io posts are being paraphrased and re posted on Yahoo they are probably being mined and re posted, perhaps in Yahoo's attempt to bolster their hits.
It is possible that anything you publicly post anywhere on the internet may used elsewhere without your permission.

Re: Unimat 3 Mill/Drill Attachment Question
I can't swear no one on the group is using AI. I'm certainly not, however. I do post from my cell phone, quite frequently, and do moderation tasks. Spellcheck, despite my efforts to prevent it operating, does mess me up now and then. Though sometimes it helps. I misspelled "moderation" above and it corrected it. It also tried to turn "Spellcheck" into Spellchecker. I caught that. Can't tell you what to do about it, Richard. Personally, I refer to it as "artificial stupid." Maybe it will eventually actually learn to be useful. I won't be holding my breath waiting. Bill in OKC? William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) Re: IPad for CAD?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Gang: One thing I
didn't mention about OnShape, and other 3D programs, it is much
easier to use with a 3D mouse. I use a 3DCONNEXION "Space
Mouse". It allows one hand to spin the model while your other
hand works the keyboard and regular mouse. You can do it all
with the regular mouse, but the Space Mouse is cool. I think I
paid $60 for mine used. Carl. |

Re: Does the Unimat DB200 have Imperial threads or Metric
Thank you, Carl.
We are on the same page now and I found my Unimat Tap and Die.
I wanted to make some larger dials and that requires engraving on the dials. I can move forward now.

I found I have a tap and die for the Unimat DB200 lead screw. The thread is M8 x 1.

Re: IPad for CAD?
Dont buy a MAC you will regret it ! If your needs are simply 2D then have you considered LibreCAD for Linux ? It runs on a ?50 Raspberry Pi 3+ Ofc you can get second hand laptops or mini PC's for a little more that offer more power. If you have 3D needs then FREECAD is reasonable and FREE ofc. I like Sketchup ofc but you need decent 3D ?d rendering for it so hardware cost goes up. Good Luck. Kind regards, Paul

Hello Dick: All the sketches are done in 2D and are parametric. It quickly gives you the answers to how big a part needs to be, etc. Parametric means you can say the part is twice as wide as it is tall, or all the side are equal. You draw, add dimensions and the sketch changes to match the dimensions. Once all the parts fit together you can make dimensioned drawings to work from. Also the
program is free to use. If you want or need private access files
they charge a monthly fee. And you can access your models
anywhere. I used it to design my dividing head, it was a great aid. Carl. ? |
Re: Does the Unimat DB200 have Imperial threads or Metric
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello Dick: The DB200 is all metric. The lead screws are M8x1 left hand. The small cap screws are M6 and the spindle is M12x1. 0.312" is equal to 7.92mm or M8. Carl. On 12/26/2024 3:56 PM, OldToolmaker via
