Re: Is it possible to separate Unimat3 from SL/DB

actually now I look I find 2 unimat 3 groups, neither active with posts, so probably best to just leave things as they are, as we certainly wouldnt want to confuse matters with a third group, neither of the above seem to have posts, and on one the last post is querying whether there was a moderator / owner

there did use to be a unimat 3 group as well as this one, but it sort of died a death when nobody could contact the group owner.

Splintering the group is a sure way to kill both versions, or at least cripple this one and kill the U3 variety.?

If there were a million users, it would work, but there are barely enough users now to get a few messages per day. Just look at the group stats.?

Re: Is it possible to separate Unimat3 from SL/DB

I¡¯m obviously a late comer to the party, but this is called the ¡®Unimat¡¯ group, not the ¡®Unimat DB/SL¡¯ group¡ and the Files, Photos etc contain loads of documents, over many years, pertaining to every sort of Unimat.
?
So I don¡¯t really understand how a split could be beneficial.
?
Maybe there is some underlying ¡®history¡¯ that I¡¯m not aware of¡ ?

Re: Is it possible to separate Unimat3 from SL/DB

Personally I¡¯m fine with it the way it is, and I wouldn¡¯t want to move to a different forum. I¡¯m a U3 owner and user.
?
Trying to split the group might be decisive and counterproductive in the long run, and many of the discussions on machining aren¡¯t specific to any model, or are of interest to owners of any model.
?
So my vote would be to ¡®leave as is¡¯. It¡¯s not ideal but perfectly workable. BTW I use the forum through the web (browser) interface, where you can easily view all the groups.io groups that you¡¯ve signed up to.

Re: Simple Threading on the Unimat

Using the sliding quill presumably?
?
That¡¯s probably quite a chunky thread¡ Are you planning on moving the tool fractionally left or right occasionally, so you are only cutting on one side?

Best of luck, and let us know how it goes!

I have a Cast Iron DB200 not a Unimat 3

I'm now wondering of this is some kind of scam - if so I can't imagine what! I replied directly to the email - I didn't copy and paste the address into a new email - so I know I didn't mis-read or mis-type it.

I tried to check if the sender was actually a group member but couldn't find a member list in the group home page; I also checked the Unimat SL and Unimat 3 Facebook page but no such member exists on there - which doesn't mean much, I know.

Anyone here had anything like this happen? Any advice appreciated.

Re: Is it possible to separate Unimat3 from SL/DB

There are hash tags set up for the group to tag U3, U3 motors, and DB200, but I'm not seeing much evidence they get used. I don't? have any idea how to use them, for that matter.?

I normally read and reply to the groups I'm involved with through email in my browser. So I don't know if the hash tags can be used through email or if you need to be on the group website to use them. I will have to look into it and find out, but that probably isn't going to happen today.?

I got much of my workshop space back a couple days ago, and I'm moving stuff back in there and trying to get it all set up.?

Re: Email Puzzle

The group is set to allow the archives to be visible to non-members. That may be involved. Also a couple of members have left the group recently, so that could have something to do with it. If you want to send a copy of that request to me, I can check and see if the sender is or was a member. I'm a moderator, so can't do anything about the archives being visible. Though I'll be checking all the groups I own , and doing something about it if they are on my groups.
