Re: Unimat 3
Keith, I got rid of the two DB200 motors I had. Too noisy for me. Replaced them with DC scooter moters instead. Much more quiet and variable speed and reversing as well. --

Re: Unimat 3
For the lower speed power is fed via a diode, so giving the motor half the voltage, although that doesn't mean it runs at half the speed. Often the diode blows and low speed no longer works. It's not

Well the clean-up went well stripped it all down got the dremel with a fine brush to clean up the rust area's and it worked well put a light coating of grease over all moving parts for now, but when

Right on Peter, ? ? ?threading for sure. ?It's been interesting to follow, it's not often you come across a problem in this field that hasn't already been solved. Are you familiar with the

Re: Recommendations for stepper motors, controller, software
Hello Nate, same as the other thread (pun unfortunately unavoidable) it is threading¡ one option is to drive the headstock spindle and the main leadscrew at set ratios to each other (so using two

Hello Peter, What is it your building ? For how or what will the components you asked of be used? I went through the thread, but I couldn't discern. Great read though! Quadrature will be my word of

Re: Recommendations for stepper motors, controller, software
In my experience the right type of tap used in decent quality materials will usually produce a nice clean thread with the correct crest and root form. I have some cheap and nasty taps that were never

Re: 795, 895 (etc) DC motors
The original subject is in the heading - using the 795, 895 and similar motors for an extra spindle. I would suggest that the suitability of a motor for almost any application would depend on the rpm.

Re: Recommendations for stepper motors, controller, software
That is true. The only alternative, then, is to make your own blocks. At that point you can size them any way you like, and make them long enough to fit the full length of your vise jaws, for ideal

Re: 795, 895 (etc) DC motors
Richard, This thread was originally about cutting speed of materials as found in Machinery¡¯s Handbook. Somehow the topic had morphed to rpm. The topic is no longer relevant as RPM has now crept into

Hello all, My comment "a sad state" was when I first saw it unboxed there is rust on the ways and chuck that I can contend with but then i found under the motor body thick rust, and the power feed

Andrei, taps and dies ¡° don¡¯t ¡°always produce nice clean threads like single point threading does. They are fine if you are satisfied with a mediocre functional thread. I take pride in being

Re: Unimat 3
Doesn't look too bad. Light rusting on the bed can be cleaned off with a pot scourer - Scotchbrite or similar. That would do for most of the other rusty bits - then polish them up with a good wax
