Re: Chuck for U3
Can you measure the play in the chuck?? For a 3-jaw lathe chuck, 0.003", or about .5mm, is a pretty good chuck. A drill bit in a Jacobs-style chuck used on the tailstock, will tend to center itself

Re: Chuck for U3
Hello: Actually, I am looking for a drill chuck.? ;^) The one at littlemachineshop is unbranded/unknown origin and costs me a midget more than the Jacobs I have been offered, to which I have to add

Re: Chuck for U3
I see I missed that you were looking for a Jacobs chuck, not a lathe chuck. Little Machine Shop has those also, see: https://littlemachineshop.com/products/product_view.php?ProductID=2951&category=

Chuck for U3
Hello: My U3 was agreat deal, just the milling table that came with it justified what I paid. But as proof that you cannot have everything , the drill chuck that came with with the package is in sad (

Thanks for posting the drawing, Keith. There is nothing quite as rewarding as making your own! That is what these little machines are for. Dick

Re: Looking for a DB 200 part
Thanks for that info! I was going on the little bit I could find on the charts I have, and don't have a great deal of metric standards info without digging through a copy of Machinery's Handbook,

Thanks, Keith! I knew I'd seen a drawing of that part, but couldn't find it in files! And I like the alternative cross+slide, too! Bill in OKC? William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) Aphorisms to live

Re: Looking for a DB 200 part
M12 ¡Á 1.75 is standard metric coarse, usually written M12. M12 ¡Á 1.25 is the Fine thread. M12 ¡Á 1 is from the constant pitch series (all 1 mm pitch) used on standard diameters from 8 to 32 mm (but

My drawing of the original screw and my alternative form, with a hex head, can be found at /g/Unimat/photo/195780/2247178?p=Name%2C%2C%2C20%2C1%2C0%2C0 - that's in my photo album

That's cheating! And "if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying" is an old military maxim, so don't feel bad about it! I've got an Atlas TH42 and a Smithy CB-1220XL 3-in-1 lathe/mill/drill plus three

Re: Looking for a DB 200 part
I'm going to say it SHOULD be doable on a Unimat. SHOULD, I say! ;) And my wife tells me, when I do that, that I'm shoulding all over myself! ;) I have larger lathes, too, so I guess I need to try

Re: Looking for a DB 200 part
Lowes and Home Depot don't have those taps and dies. They're not standard metric threads. M12-1.25 & M12-1.5 are Metric standard threads, and those are what you might be able to find at Lowes or HD.
