To keep answers simple, take off the plastic tube and use something like a mesh.? Motors do radiate a certain amount.

Fasco has several PDF documents with spec tables on many of their motors.
Try googling Fasco dc motor specification PDFs.
As a general rule, dc motors are quite forgiving with voltage
