Please go to 2mm.org.uk They probably have the largest available amount of parts in general N scale. Now please no complaining that you must join, it is all 2mm, etc.

Probably drifting way off topic, but everything you can see in this is essentially scratch built, to 2mm Finescale, same scale approximately, as N, but tighter tolerances. Including the locomotives

If I recall correctly, there were never loco kits in N Gauge.? Some of the Brass Loco importers did make complete boiler/cab units to mount specific mechanisms to.? I have seen kitbash articles

As regards building an N gauge loco, there is help. The 2mm Scale Association has a "shop" selling bits to members. You have to be a member but there are options from re-wheeling commercial N gauge
