Re: AR Warner HSS Inserts?
The problem with the Google translator is that it translates word for word. The Deepl translator translates the texts meaningfully. This is particularly important for me when I translate English texts into German. It makes it easier for me to understand.? I can then very easily correct any grammatical errors.
The Goole translator very often delivers incomprehensible words that make no sense to me. Translated with DeepL.com (free version) |
Re: AR Warner HSS Inserts?
Bruno, don't worry about your English. I lived in Germany for 5 years, and never got much beyond "Guten Tag."? I've been studying Spanish off and on for much of the past 60 years, and despite that, still not much better than "Buenas Dias."? I can still sing at least parts of a couple of songs I learned back in the 7th Grade, and understand them, but can't understand someone speaking Spanish, though I can sometimes pick out words I understand. And that includes nearly 20 semester hours of Spanish & Conversational Spanish. My brain does not learn other languages well. I have similar problems with mathematics beyond very basic algebra.? Instead, I use Google Translate.? Bill in OKC William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) Aphorisms to live by: Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.? SEMPER GUMBY! Physics doesn't care about your schedule. The only reason I know anything is because I've done it wrong enough times to START to know better. Expect in one hand, expectorate in the other. See which one gets full first.

Re: AR Warner HSS Inserts?
Yes. Like Andrei (Hi!!, just finely got the die grinder set back up), 95% great experience. The other 5% was I didn't know the difference in a horizontal and vertical threading insert tool and broke my insert using it the wrong way. The help I requested from AR Warner was "Take a class." Well turned out Little Machine Shop where I purchased mine didn't know either. The person who pointed me to the tooling let me knot they are vertical tools. No problem since.? They are perfect for low power lathes. I use them mostly on a 10". "But" for comparison, a carbide insert tool for 2" material, not unreasonable for a 10" lathe, requires running mine at top RPM. Yes it's doable, but . . .? just my $.02

Re: AR Warner HSS Inserts?
To me it seems that reference is made to the diameter of the cutting tools which in this case are reused broken center drills and broken taps.?

This is probably a Google translation issue.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI too was confused by the phrase ¡¯turning rings¡¯. ?I finally settled on the possibility that it refers to the diameter of the curled waste material that the lathe produces in making a cut, however I have no idea if that is correct. ?Please let us uneducated know precisely what the phrase means.Tom A

What do you consider ¡°turning rings¡±. I am puzzled by your terminology.

Re: Unimat SL refinish/refurb
This is what I do. If the part doesn't have a surface I can rest it on that is unpainted, I will make hooks from stiff wire and hang it from the oven rack instead. Not only does this help the paint cure faster, but I also find it generally improves the durability quite a bit. I usually bake it around 250F for as long as I feel like it. Let the part cool in the oven before removing to avoid damage to the paint finish, as it will still be very soft while it's hot. I painted my lawn hydrant last year with blue gloss Rustoleum and the paint is holding up incredibly well, even on the hook I hang my bucket on while filling it. BTW, gloss is going to be a more durable and easier to clean finish than satin. Satin is better at hiding blemishes though. And you might want to consider a satin finish top coat.? After this is really cured, Rustoleum should be durable.?? I prefer their hammered gray or silver.? These are similar to some earlier Unimats.?? |
