Re: Indexing Attachment
The index came with a 48T. They also sold 30T, 36T, 40T and a long time ago you could also get a 24T. I have the full set including the 24T. There is a person from Germany who sells on Ebay a very good indexing set up that goes on the pulley. ?Jeff

I think the best all around "gear" for this indexing attachment would have 60 teeth. This would allow 2.3.4.5.6.10.12.15.20.and 30 divisions from one gear.? Did Unimat have a 60 tooth?

开云体育Hi James: No they didn't. 1:60 is 6? and I think 1:72 would be nice, 5? If
someone was interested in cutting them, how many of us might
want them? Carl. On 7/8/2023 11:58 AM, James Quick

Re: Indexing Attachment
Nice work Dave!
I built a worm dividing attachment a few years ago to fit on the headstock of my 7x16 MicroMark Mini lathe. It provides up to 360 divisions. A version of that could be adapted to work on the Unimat if one so desires. My indexing attachment only had the 48 tooth gear which does not give me 5 divisions which I use for fly wheels, so I made a 30 tooth gear out of brass. Hopefully it will be do the job. My next project will be the steady rest. |

Re: Dumb question dept.
I have one! ? I’m about to use the top slide (the adjustable one that can be used to cut tapers) on my U3 for the first time. The tool post has three fixing bolts, but due to their arrangement it looks as though only one bolt could be used to secure a normal straight cutter, compared to using two bolts of the standard tool post. |

This guy makes custom brass plates for machine tools. Ask him if he has artwork for your Unimat, or send him a sample and he probably can make it for you.?
Much better than a burnt outline with a laser on an anodized aluminum plate
And here is another guy who does the same thing but not through eBay.

I would think any decent engraving shop with a laser could make you one by lasering a piece ot red anodized aluminum sheet stock. Hmmm, I have a laser. I'm a gonna get some of this and give it a try.
