Re: Unimat Motor
Hi Gang: It is a brush motor, to reverse swap either the brush or field wires. To reverse shaded pole motors, turn the field over. Carl.

Re: Unimat Motor
Old Toolmaker Sir, The ?290 one that John was referring to was most likely the one that clankennedy2004 shared. This discussion is getting a bit unseemly and not something I prefer to receive in my

Re: Unimat Motor
Hi John, Since I have never posted a picture of the Unimat motor I have for sale, your comment is out of line, false and disparaging. Also, the motor I have is a U90 and ¡°not¡± a 290 as you state.

Re: Unimat Motor
https://www.ebay.com/itm/203821353522 Price: US $34.50 - Free Shipping. New. 90 watts. It probably runs the wrong way for a Unimat and there could be issues with mounting and with the pulley. Neil

Re: Unimat Motor
Some have sold on EBay for $199.00 plus shipping here in the US. So the price is not out of line! If no takers I will just keep it. It has value as a collectible.

Re: Thread Milling
I was assured long ago that a flat bottom drill is made from a slightly bigger drill, with the cutting edges ground off the flutes, and the end flattened. Never seen anyone take the trouble, perhaps

Re: Thread Milling
A long time ago we had this discussion. In England the three taps are Taper, Second & Plug and a bottoming tap is usually made by grinding the point and lead off a pug tap so you can tap all the way

Re: Thread Milling
I've had drills walk all over before, but never tried to start a hole with a flat bottom drill. I keep trying to tell people I'm crazy, not stupid. ;) Not sure how many of them are buying it! Great

Re: Thread Milling
Depends on how deep the hole is. If you can run the tap all the way down, you don't need a bottoming tap for a through hole. If your tap is too short, you might. You can certainly make a bottoming tap
