Re: Centering the 3 jaw chuck. (DB200)
#db200
When you are reversing the jaws, you will need to switch the 3 and the 1, the #3 jaw will go into the #1 slot and so forth. The #2 stays in the same place. This will allow your chuck to close evenly. When you switch back, make go to also switch the jaws. This should solve your issue.

I was previously keeping the same sequence when reversing the jaws.1-1. 2-2, 3-3. |
Re: Ideas Please for Neat Clean 24v Wiring
I'm certain that if they had been available, EMCO would have used them. Better motor, variable speed, and runs on any home voltage.? Neil On Tue., May 17, 2022, 19:16 Keith S. Angus, <keithsangus@...> wrote: Glad it all works. |
Re: Ideas Please for Neat Clean 24v Wiring
I just finished my 24volt scooter motor conversions for use on both of my Unimats.
The motors run so smooth and quiet. I wish I would have done this long ago. I now have variable speed and reversing ability. I plan on selling both of my OEM Unimat motors and don¡¯t intend to go back. I have the power supply and motor control housed in a hinged metal electrical box which can hang on the shop wall or reside on a bench. Thanks to all who helped me along the way with advice, etc. Your help is much appreciated and I learned a lot along the way. I am now richer for the experience. I don¡¯t think I could have undertaken this project without this good group!!! Dick |
Re: Scarce and costly bits and pieces for the Unimat DB & SL
I still need to do a bit of deburring, and I need to locate a couple of the T-nuts I have and see if they fit the slots I cut... Found where I'd hidden the vise, which had the T-nuts attached. They're a bit wide for the slots I cut, so I'm going to have to widen the slots a bit. My toolbox came in from the car when I got home last night, but I don't have good places to empty it into right now, so I think I need to spend as much as I can of the next few days getting the workshop in order. I have an HF Mini-mill her that I could fix a bit and do the work on, but it might works better to make a 10mm shank end mill holder and use the Uni to fix the "problem." After I measure and see how much wider I need the bottom of those T-slots. It looks like it's less than .5mm, and I could probably fix it with a needle file, if necessary. I also bought a package of t-nuts for 3030 aluminum extrusions.??I'm going to see about cutting some of them down. They are too thick, and a bit too long, and even modified won't be perfect, but might work well enough.? Also have a bar of 12mm keystock, and will make some more out of that one of these days.? Gotta say, having a DRO makes this stuff really easy. Unfortunately, none of my home machines have DRO's. Yet.? Bill in OKC |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Gang: I would take your chuck to a pawn shop and ask to see their keys. Or buy this one:

Yes, as far as I can tell original Unimat drill chucks are made by R?hm. I think they came after Jacobs, and their system of numbering is more rational then Jacobs. If you find their website it shouldn't be too hard to find the correct key. How you buy one after that is another question. I there are no possible suppliers near you we will have to find someone. My local tool shop (UK) lists two R?hm chuck keys, but does not indicate which chucks they fit. Come to think of it I may have a spare one in the cupboard - I'll have a look and see if I can find another one like it. |

Re: unimat Jacobs chuck key size
I purchased a "ROHM" drill chuck key "S1" ID - Nr. 26411 From Germany That is the original manufacturer for the Emco Unimat Chuck that I have , marked "Rohm". I just shopped on the Internet as I could not find any one that is near here that understood. Bye In Texas. Freeze spray is used in other industrial applications also, I just don't know exactly where.. . Google "electronic freeze spray" you will get many hits. Also, as stated, canned air turned upside down will freeze things (but not as effectively as that is not what it is designed to do). |
Re: Power winder worm gear
I understand now what is wanted. This part should be able to be produced on the Unimat if a threading attachment is available and a suitable thread master. There are other ways to accomplish this also, however, the desire to pursue this must be present before one begins as this would not be a quick project, but it would be a rewarding one.

Re: Scarce and costly bits and pieces for the Unimat DB & SL
Can you please identify "Quick Freeze".? A google search for "quick freeze can" may not be providing the right product.? I need to be able to buy online or at the local auto store or hardware.? And it is not in Home Depot or True Value.
Thank you. |
