My OS (Win7 Pro) has been corrupted, but I can still get the machine to operate. I notice UIView32 is now in 'receive only' mode. What needs to be done to get it back in 'normal' mode?

Verify settings under COMMs setup.

You might have turned off a USB port.

Menu > SETUP> COMMS SETUP>.

Uncheck the receive only checkbox?

What does “receive only” mean? Does it no longer command the TNC to transmit?

WA9AFM-10 is “beaconing” over TCPIP. I can’t tell from here if it is transmitting with no path on RF as well or not.

WA9AFM appears to be a WX station also “beaconing” over TCPIP. Same comment… I can’t tell if it is on RF as well.

However, there is another WA9AFM with a non-validated connection to various CWOP servers. It is at a slightly different location.

Which one are you concerned about?

What do you have in your station setup for the unproto port & address and the beacon interval?

What do you have in the comms setup, and what do you see in the terminal screen when you “OK” your way out from it?

Exactly!?? I actually asked Roger to incorporate this feature.

Decades ago, I was involved with an APRS tracking effort for a volunteer fire patrol and watch in the California Sierras. In addition to the mobiles transmitting their positions, I wanted a receive-only monitor position at the state fire dept HQ that ran the VIP (Volunteers In Protection) program.? Since the staff there were NOT hams, I didn't want them to inadvertently cause transmissions.

Since then, I have used the RX-only mode many times at "look only" APRS demos at ham fests and radio club meetings.

Thanks for pointing that out. I had actually forgotten about the setting for “receive only”. I can see now that there is a good reason for it to exist.
