UIView is looking for a file Monty Wilson nr0a.monty@... -----Original Message-----
From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of kerry Sent: Saturday, May 22, 2021 08:21 PM To: UI-View <[email protected]> Subject: [UI-View] UI-VIEW WX DATA FILE Hello All, Can someone tell me what the wx weather data file should be, and do I have to create it. The wx station is a LaCrosse ws-28xx series and it is working with WUHU fine but can't get it to transfer data to ui-view..Kerry-WA2NAN -- Sent from Outlook Email App for Android formatted as below May 22 2021 20:46 132/001g003t081r000p000P000h54b10208 First line is current date and time the file was created Second line has to following data. Wind direction/speed g=gust t=temperature (in degrees F) temperatures below zero will have a - in the first position (-01 to -99) r=rain last hour p=rain last 24 hours P=rain since midnight H=humidity b=barometric pressure in millibars For more information look up APRS Protocol Reference, Chapter 12 I took a brief look at your software manual and did not find anything referencing the needed APRS file. But it may be worth a call to LA Cross support. I did notice there is a section on "Templates". Could a template be created to do what you need? Since you had it working at one point there should be a way to accomplish what you need. Did you upgrade to a new version your weather station software that possibly no longer supports the APRS data format? Hope his helps get pointed in the right direction. Cheers Monty, NR0A/AP677 |
Yes it appears to be looking for a .txt file like wx.txt but don't see it anywhere on the computer.? Have u installed and reinstalled uiview and heavy weather three times but no such file shows up...

This has already been explained repeatedly, but here again....
UIview _DOES NOT_ create the WXNOW.TXT file. ? It is not a result of installing UIview.? Endlessly re-installing UIview will not magically make it appear. *WXNOW.TXT has to be created by an external program.* This can be either the weather station software itself, or a third-party "middle-ware" app that periodically interrogates the weather station, translates it's proprietary-format data, and writes it out to the standardized-format? WXNOW.TXT??? Note that whatever app creates the file, it will periodically overwrite the file with a new version as the weather readings change. In turn, UIview periodically looks for and reads the content of WXNOW.TXT, and sends it over the air. ? You tell UIview where it should look for this file, but it is up to some other program to create it. (You specify the location of the WXNOW.TXT in the "Setup", "Setup Weather Station" dialog in UIview.) The whole reason for this drill is that the author of UIview didn't want to have to deal with the wide variety of proprietary constantly-changing weather-station data formats. Not only are they different between manufacturers; even different models from the same mfr sometimes output data in different formats. Uiview's author did not want to waste all his time reverse-engineering weather-data formats for new models to add to an ever-growing list of specific makes & models inside UIview, [The growing list of TNC init files for different TNCs and radio models was enough already!] So he left if to WX station mfrs and/or third parties to deal with this and output the standardized WXNOW.TXT file. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stephen H. Thanks for that Stephen.? My LaCrosse weather station with Heavy Weather Pro only creates a file named ( currdat.lst ).? There is no window, wx, or anything similar.?? Ui-view wx file needs a ( txt ) file.? I tried WUHU and didn't produce a txt file either but still plugging away...tnx..Kerry

One entry that most miss when setting up The WX Station Setup is that setting for Max age (min) must be set to zero 0. That was never fixed by Roger. He knew about it though. I still find UI-View 32 to be a super APRS program.?
