THD7E

Hi all.
I still can't get my THD7E working with GPS and UI-VIEW successfully. I've followed previous advice from Roger and others with little progress. I expect to see my mobile icon when moving and receiving my valid GPS data connected to the THD7E but all I see is my home position. I do have enabled a short mobile beacon interval 2mins. If I disable the home beacon interval I still do not appear mobile. Help please! Below is a 'dump' of what I see in the terminal window, which proves the GPS is talking through the Kenwood radio and is being 'seen' by UI-VIEW v2.16b. bbRAM loaded with defaults TASCO Radio Modem AX.25 Level 2 Version 2.0 Release 08/18/98 2Chip ver 1.00 Checksum $F0 cmd:CONOK OFF CONOK OFF CONOK was ON cmd:LOC E 5 LOC E 5 LOCATION was EVERY 0 cmd:LTMON 5 LTMON 5 LTMON was 0 cmd:BEACON EVERY 0 BEACON EVERY 0 BEACON was EVERY 0 cmd:MYCALL G7KCV-1 MYCALL G7KCV-1 MYCALL was NOCALL cmd:UNPROTO CQ MY G7KCV-1 MYCALL was G7KCV-1 cmd:PORTO $0000 PORTOUT was $0000 cmd:G7KCV-1>GPS:$PNTS,1,0,05,01,2000,185159,5243.356,N,00206.727,W,35,2.0,0, ,000,1*2B G7KCV-1>GPS:$PNTS,1,0,05,01,2000,185203,5243.357,N,00206.725,W,35,2.0,0,,000 ,1*24 G7KCV-1>GPS:$PNTS,1,0,05,01,2000,185209,5243.360,N,00206.723,W,35,2.0,0,,000 ,1*2C G7KCV-1>GPS:$PNTS,1,0,05,01,2000,185213,5243.361,N,00206.721,W,35,2.0,0,,000 ,1*24 G7KCV-1>GPS:$PNTS,1,0,05,01,2000,185219,5243.363,N,00206.719,W,35,1.8,0,,000 ,1*2C G7KCV-1>GPS:$PNTS,1,0,05,01,2000,185223,5243.364,N,00206.717,W,35,1.8,0,,000 ,1*2C G7KCV-1>GPS:$PNTS,1,0,05,01,2000,185229,5243.367,N,00206.717,W,35,1.6,0,,000 ,1*2B G7KCV-1>GPS:$PNTS,1,0,05,01,2000,185233,5243.366,N,00206.714,W,35,1.8,0,,000 ,1*2C G7KCV-1>GPS:$PNTS,1,0,05,01,2000,185239,5243.367,N,00206.711,W,35,1.6,0,,000 ,1*2C G7KCV-1>GPS:$PNTS,1,0,05,01,2000,185243,5243.368,N,00206.710,W,35,1.6,0,,000 ,1*2F |

UI-View doesn't understand $PNTS, because it's not something that a mobile would normally transmit. You need to configure the TH-D7E GPSTEXT parameter to an NMEA sentence that UI-View does understand, try adding "GPSTEXT $GPRMC" to the CMD file. I *think* it should then work, but I can't test it because Kenwood UK took my loan TH-D7E back a few months ago. :-( -- Roger Barker, G4IDE roger@... Boston Lincolnshire, UK |

You can't use UI-View and the D7 with GPS as a "smart tracker", it doesn't work as it should. UI-View doesn't see the data from the GPS via the D7. I've played with it a lot and had no success in getting this to work properly. It's possible to bodge it, but all you end up with is UI-View messaging with a dumb tracker. Whilst it "works" you can't use the UI-View "smart tracker" features i.e. tx timing. 73......Ciemon Dunville G0TRT email: g0trt@...
