THD7E

Hi all.

I still can't get my THD7E working with GPS and UI-VIEW successfully. I've
followed previous advice from Roger and others with little progress.

I expect to see my mobile icon when moving and receiving my valid GPS data
connected to the THD7E but all I see is my home position. I do have enabled
a short mobile beacon interval 2mins. If I disable the home beacon interval
I still do not appear mobile. Help please!

Below is a 'dump' of what I see in the terminal window, which proves the GPS
is talking through the Kenwood radio and is being 'seen' by UI-VIEW v2.16b.

Is "$PNTS" a standard NMEA sentence? I haven't seen it before.

Etc...

UI-View doesn't understand $PNTS, because it's not something that a
mobile would normally transmit. You need to configure the TH-D7E GPSTEXT
parameter to an NMEA sentence that UI-View does understand, try adding
"GPSTEXT $GPRMC" to the CMD file. I *think* it should then work, but I
can't test it because Kenwood UK took my loan TH-D7E back a few months
ago. :-(

Hi all,

You can't use UI-View and the D7 with GPS as a "smart tracker", it doesn't
work as it should. UI-View doesn't see the data from the GPS via the D7.
I've played with it a lot and had no success in getting this to work
properly.

It's possible to bodge it, but all you end up with is UI-View messaging
with a dumb tracker. Whilst it "works" you can't use the UI-View "smart
tracker" features i.e. tx timing.
