Hi Roger,
Nice catch! I may very well have an "incompatible" version of the
.DLL. I installed from the Windows98 SR2 CD-ROM.

Doing a search for DDEML.DLL, I find it in the /windows/system folder.
It is version 4.10.1998 with a date of 23April99 and file size of 31.4
kb.

Andy...if you are reading this, may I impose on you to eMail me the .DLL
that you are successful with? My direct eMail is
mailto:propnet@...

Let's see of there is a correlation here. UI-Path is *just* the module
that we need for PropNET.

Thanks for sticking with me in trying to resolve the problem I am
having.

Warmly,
Ev Tupis, W2EV

That's the correct version. The problem of DDE not working can occur
when you get the DLL from the wrong version of Windows, but you've got
the correct one for Win98 SR2.

Having looked at it again, I don't think the problem has anything to do
with DDE. I would guess that Andy has a "catch all" error message in the
program initialisation, which assumes that a DDE error is the only thing
that can go wrong. For instance, if you run UI-Path from somewhere other
than the UI-View directory, you get that message. I would suggest that
Andy changes the message box so, in VB terminology, it displays
"Error(Err)". that way it will be possible to find out the real nature
of the error.
