APRS server list?
Where can I get the latest ARPS server list?
I used to get it from www.aprs2.net/APRServe2.txt <> but that link is now dead and www.aprs2.net <> just yields a webserver holding page with no links. I don't what someone's hacked out of date copy on their own server (there's loads of them around), I'm looking for a fresh, always-up-to-date source to replace the above URL. Jim, G1HUL |

Where can I get the latest ARPS server list?Well, it's just a hacked out of date list, but on www.ui-view.net, it says... APRS Server List If you have just installed UI-View, the server list will be out-of-date. Click on "FILE - Download APRS Server List" and change the URL to one of the following. www.ui-view.net/files/APRServe2-Regional-Servers.txt www.ui-view.net/files/APRServe2.txt wa8lmf.net/miscinfo/APRServe2.txt They are not current, but they are better than nothing for someone that has just installed UI-View. You can view a list of tier 2 servers at the following URL, but you will have to do "a bunch of copying and pasting" to turn it into a usable list. -- 73 Keith VE7GDH "I may be lost, but I know exactly where I am!" |
Many thanks for the pointers Keith.

Fishing around on aprs2.net I've found there is a JSON feed for the data behind the status page, which is ideal for my needs as I can parse the information from there (I'm not feeding into UI-View in this instance, although it would be trivial to generate a UI-View formatted file form that data if needed). UI-View website: UI-View Registration: Select language & fill in your name and call sign. Return later to collect your registration. APRS Server List: To update the APRS Server List, change the download URL to... aprs2.net/APRServe2.txt For North American users, PMap 9 (Precision Mapping 9.0) along with PMapServer 9 can provide street level mapping for all of North America. They can be installed without hassle on Windows 7 & 8. PMapServer is available for download on the UI-View website. However, Undertow Software is no longer selling new copies of PMap 9, but existing owners can continue to use it as long as they can get it registered. Users of anything newer than Windows XP should not install UI-View below Program Files. Instead, create a folder elsewhere. To view UI-View's built-in context sensitive help file, download and install WinHlp32.exe.
