Betcha he missed the server string update.
I found out the server string had changed with a "2" in it.
That's what fixed my issue a few years back.

First, it looks like you have gone into the “Station Setup” and changed
the Unproto Address from APRS to WIDE1-1. That should be corrected.
By the way, if your intention was to actually use a path of WIDE1-1, I
would not recommend it. Fixed stations and especially digipeaters and
iGates shouldn’t be asking fill-in digipeaters for assistance.
I would suggest a one hop path of WIDE2-1, or a two hop WIDE2-2 if you
really need it.
Do you have more than one station running under WB4BSD? What is APBM1S and
what us ID? It will be less confusing for others if you use a different
SSID for other APRS stations under your call sign.
So, back to your question. You don’t appear to be connected to a server
right now. When you do connect, what server (and port) are you using, and
what do you have entered in the “extra logon text” in the APRS Server Setup?
If you do t have a need to connect to a specific server,
noam.aprs2.net:14580 would be a good choice.
