Dear TMP Member "poiter50",
It's hard to find something good to say about a global pandemic, but one of the side effects has been to bring a lot of new people to The Miniatures Page. To our new members, welcome! To our older members, meet and greet!
As you may know, the U.S.A. offered a program to assist businesses during the pandemic. We chose not to participate. Unlike some businesses, we did not see a major decline in revenues. A few of our advertisers shut down their advertising because they were forced to close down, but the vast majority have continued to support us through this difficult time (and in fact, have seen the value TMP provides in bringing all of us gamers together). And, as I've mentioned, we've been blessed with an increase in new members.
Speaking of staff, we've all had our challenges. I'm in New York, where we've been very strictly quarantined - and fortunately, due to TMP, I work at home. Our staff in the Philippines have been grateful to have work when their country is in lockdown, but have had the burden of supporting aged parents who have reduced incomes under lockdown. So things have been very stressful for Editor Gwen and Editor Dianna.
Let me close out this email by reminding you that TMP needs your support to continue supporting the hobby. If you can afford to upgrade to Sponsoring Membership, even if only for a month or two, we would certainly appreciate it. You can upgrade your membership here:
Best wishes and stay safe!

I got thrown off there for posting on the British vs American wargamers post, which HE had started, and then when it turned into a flame war, he blamed everyone else and banned so many regulars and subscribers, he had to send one of his usual begging letters, most ignored it. Much better on LAF anyway. ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Simon

Glad to have changed road years ago. I got dawghoused for a cold joke 'some people like to talk a bit about the history behind the hobby and not just drool at lovely paintjobs' and basically decided Tango Miniatures Page was useless (and I was also annoyed by the amount of tango postings of things I do not care, I was already aware of, had no places on the TMP...). Got news feed from other places, and some discussion on LAF (that has its tangoes too, sadly ...).?
I never looked back but... I realize it serves a purpose. Uf that places closes down... will the flame wars spill everywhere else??
Now which Infamy Infamy bundle I will buy? This is a serious question!
Best, Arrigo

I can only suggest the everything bundle. Possibly a bundle of
bundles just to take the edge off?
Cheers,
Pete

But apparently GW or certain US producers it’s ok.
?
Ah well. I only go there (without signing in) to laugh and point, and marvel at the (lack of) intellect and derangement of certain TMP worthies.
I quit membership about 2 or three years ago, after a particularly virulent bout of MAGAitis broke out there, and? anyone who tried to inject fasts into the debate was immediately ‘dawghoused’.
?
Bill is doing a service though, quarantining a whole bunch of stale male and pale from interacting with normal human beings. Like their very own
lockdown, so reality can’t affect them.

Originally a german based site it's now I think Pendraken that manages it. It's particularly strong on wargames pr0n - especially 28mm. There are a few designers and sculptors that post their work there, and it has a reasonable buy/trade board. There are more non UK European members than usual thanks to its origins, and it has a pretty rigid no-dickheads policy. Politics is (virtually) unknown.
I usually check new items daily, but it's quite high traffic so there can be two to three pages of new items daily. They are well sorted so you need only see the boards you are interested in, and no Tango!
Cheers

I think that LAF ?is owned by Nick Eyre of Northstar but the moderation is by volunteers who I thunk are pretty well unchanged from when it was based in Germany.
I like LAF - no politics and most posters will avoid contentious issues - self censorship I suppose

The near-constant repetition of this phrase on TMP makes me want to put my fist through the screen of my laptop.
Every. Time. I. See. It.

Ah yes, that’s right. It’s Northstar, but Nick lets it run itself with the volunteers who seem eminently sane. Like stopping the thread about TMP.
