Accidents do happen - however careful one tries to be.

I look forward to learning more of this project at the Virtual Wargame Club. Did you buy the Gandamak figures?

Stephen

Good Morning Stephen,

How does one find the Virtual Wargames Club? I thank you in advance.

Hi Stephen, no, they are generally the pristine bell topped shako and short jackets version. I am considering whether I want to bite the bullet, put them on the back-burner and just go full on Indian Mutiny.? Which seems to have a much greater variety of figures available and is better supported.??

Though..? Flashman.?

Thanks Peter, I only bought a few as I wanted to do Sharp Practice, but that's very helpful. It's interesting to see the relatively high number of NCOs.

All the best

Doug,

that's the uniform I'm using for Carlist Wars and an alternative Victorian Civil War - both SP2.
With Afghan, Opium, Cape and Carlist Wars there's quite a few infantry and artillery. Cavalry is more limited - lancers and light dragoons.

Stephen

Jon,

thanks for your interest in VWC [Virtual Wargames Club].
To learn more just email me at stephen.f.caddy@...?

all the best,
Stephen

I know, I've looked at the Empress/Iron Duke range and been ashamed of the lust...??

Hmmm..? of course, if I was a REAL wargamer, I would collect both.

And just to deflect, painting some Perry plastic AWI till I get over it.

D.

Don’t forget about the British Irregular Cavalry, that can give you quite a bit of variation.

Neil, Can you tell me more what you have in mind with the British Irregular Cavalry. Whose figures? What might they represent? Thanks. Always open to ideas.

Meanwhile, Doug's original question was, "Has anybody done any SP2" lists?
Surely someone can support our bad buying-decisions!

You can always use the for early Scind and much more interestingly against the wily Ranjit Singh. At a push you could form up your French Old Guard, call them Persians and refight Herat.

Iron Duke has East India Company Irregular Cavalry which you could use to represent Skinners horse (Yellow coats, red pants and ?red or blue turbans) GAPS 7 and 8. Also looking at the orders of battle for Afghanistan the British had a number of allied tribes so you could have some just in native dress. There was also the East India Company regular cavalry which was in light blue/grey uniforms with orange facings and peakless shakos.

Thanks Graham, I did wonder about the Sikh Wars, but I confess, part of the appeal was the ready availability of the Perry plastic Afghans.?

I am now wondering if I consign them to the lead pile and instead grab the splendid Iron Duke Indian Mutiny figures.

Regards

Doug

Well if you do go for the Duke’s First War of Independence range then having a few gentlemen from Peshawar and beyond will not go amiss. 1857 is not somewhere I need or want to go anymore, but the misadventures of Dost Mahommed and General Elphinstone I do find fascinating along with the rise and decline of the Sikh empire. In fact pretty much anything along the Silk Road in the 1800s.
