Havana 1762 SP AAR Landing at Cojimar

Looking for some different settings for SP games I decided on expanding my 7yW in the Carribean with the British attack on Havana in 1762.? I used Stuart Insch's Against Spain booklet as inspiration.? The first game was a British assault on a beach redoubt outside Havana. The Crown had a force of 32 Grenadiers, 32 Light Infantry and some support from naval guns off table and 6 Big Men.? The Spanish had 32 Regulars (3 Big Men) and 2 units of 36 Cuban Militia types with 4 Big Men.? It was a simple game to get plaayers acquainted with the theatre.
Full AAR on flickr.? Be sure to click on the pics to get a description:? ?https://www.flickr.com/photos/6mmgaming/albums/72177720309554728/

Interesting. I was in Havana at the beginning of the month and went the the 9.00 'closing of the gates' gun re-enactment.? Uniforms of the garrison were white, purple cuffs and pockets, no turn backs or lapels (had a back view, so not be 100% on the latter) with usual black tricorn with white lace edging.? The fortress built after the 1762 invasion is enormous and rather powerfully underlines how important Cuba was to the Spanish treasury. Whether it was ever completed - would have needed a very significant number of guns of medium and large caliber to complete the fit out, not to mention the stores required to maintain the garrison which would have been pretty large too

Before I went, had a quick trawl for info on Spanish SYW uniform info and drew a blank

Steve, check out Uniformology

Thanks, most useful.

As Cuba didn't give up slavery until 1884 (or thereabouts), I suspect the Battalion of Negros was most likely to have been recruited from the residual native population.?

Chris's WoJE book is a lot of fun. Gives you a chance to field a wide assortment of units including Highlanders, natives, redcoated regulars, and numerous Spanish types.??
