Re: Wor Lard

Matt, if you don¡¯t object, I¡¯ll add you and your wife to my daily prayers. So sorry you are going through this trial.?

? Hi All,

The sixth installment of Wor Lard will be on April 25th (once again the

Saturday after Salute).

Rich Clarke has confirmed his attendance and although he hasn't
definitely said what game he's bringing, I think it will be something
with the initials II! I'll be confirming other games in the near future.

Unfortunately, after discussions with the club committee, I will have to
charge an attendance fee of ?5 this year (arrangements for paying it, to
be confirmed shortly). Refreshments will be put on as usual and it will
still be free if you bring a game.

Anyone interested in attending just drop me a line.

Cheers,
Jim

Hi Matt,

I had heard, but I didn't realise it was that bad. Please give Debs my best.

I'll hold a place open for you.

Cheers,
Jim?

Re: IABSM in 6mm

In 10mm I tend to use a different base size/format and in all scales I tend to use terrain pieces (logs, rocks, bushes) to denote the level of the big man.?

For a big man you could put a radio operator on the same base.?
I know someone who puts his Arabian army commander on a flying carpet with dancing girls on the same base.?

So a radio op might not be dancing girls but...

Maybe I can put a Big Man on a smaller base, but dress it up a bit more with more terrain

Re: Specials Index 2019

I've played and written up several scenarios for the specials over the years. From Sharp Practice (Mex-US war, WW I, WW II, Vietnam, and hypothetical pre WW I scenarios). A couple from Nam and one for Operation Torch have been mentioned by? the group. The older specials have many good scenarios by? many others from around the world.

Makes one wonder if there's really interest.

Re: IABSM in 6mm

For my 6mm ww2 stuff, I base the infantry on 1p coins and the big men on 2p coins.
I use as many figures as the BMs level as a quick visual reminder. Then fill out the base with odd jeeps, kettenkrads etc. To complete the little scene.

Re: Using CoC with Skirmish Campaigns scenarios?

FWIW, I'll just say that the Skirmish Campaigns books are great. Very detailed maps, order of battle, etc. In many respects however it seems like far too few figures/men to what actually took place but the research is excellent. I use the SC books for IABSM and use the conversions recommended in the TFL Christmas 2004 Special. Fairly simple. One squad in SC becomes one platoon in IABSM, on-board MGs and mortars get doubled, number of tanks stays the same, etc

Re: CoC in the East

Sorry to hear.

Though a common problem for the German's during this period.?

The Russians did have ammunition problems for the KVs, there are a lot of stories of them just ploughing around German positions with just mg's blazing.

So a play balance could of been to limit its ammo. Another would be to use a T26, T60 or similar. As they had them by the cart load.

Till the German's got decent Heat rounds, its a case of grin and bear it.?

??

Re: IABSM in 6mm

That's brillant rovens!

Re: IABSM in 6mm

I use rounds for troops and then rectangular bases with a label for big men.

Re: A solo Seven Spears game I played a while back (Japanese Dux)

Love the green base cloth. You have done a great job with the randomised splotches.

I try to add a little variation in height to table, even if it is a thin book or round edged shape. Some double-thickness cardboard cut into a 'hill' shape and put under the cloth may make it even more natural. I've borrowed the odd tea towel before but make sure you square it with the missus first!

Re: IABSM in 6mm

Just a thought but could the Big Man be a 10mm miniature?
