Locked TT4 dead or hung up - Additional digipeaters

No, No, No, No!??? Keep in mind that for every digipeater you put on the air you HALVE the channel capacity!? That's right you 1/2 the number of packets the channel can pass.?
Digipeating is a store and forward system, so as it repeats it duplicates the time needed, and reduces the time available to hear new packets.?? You need to consider the RF environment before you start digipeating.????? If you look at the large metropolitan areas, you actually see the performance of the 'system' decline when random additional digipeaters are put in place. ?

Yes, there are large portions of rural America that could benefit from additional digipeaters, and Igates.?? But you need to consider the environs around your area to provide the best service.?

I get concerned when general statements about adding digipeaters get thrown out there without qualification.? If people don't understand the implications of placing a device on the air, they risk adding to congestion and decreasing the capacity of the system.?

Alan,

?First; Thanks for operating a fill--in digi,? America needs more digipeaters! If we ever reintroduce an MTT4B or MTT4BT, you can bet it will have a reset timer built in!

So you are saying that America does not need more digipeaters? (It does; fill-ins mostly)? Or that I have a duty to be politically correct? I assume that this board is for the A
PRS cognescenti, and we all know that NA is filled with black holes.

Ugh. ¡°Political correctness¡± invoked in the face of a valid point, which is then willfully misinterpreted. Inappropriate, and boring.
