TT4 config software

Is it that I¡¯m not using correctly or does the config software have some issues. I can read the TT4 make some changes, reload the file and then read it again and some of ?the changes were not saved or changed? Thanks Dale N0KQX

I haven't used the configuration app in quite some time.? For TT4 variants the firmware is at V0.72, but the Config software goes back to V0.68
I do all my changes with TeraTerm now.? I use EXPORT to capture the current settings to a file, edit that file, then send the whole file back to the TT4 (or MTT4B).
I don't think there are any new settings between the 0.68 and 0.72 (except on the MTT4B version) so the configuration app should still work.
?
In other posts, users have found this process to be helpful:
1. EXPORT the current settings to a text file
2. Edit the text file according to your desire
3. RETORE to bring the TT4 (or MTT4B) to a known state
4. Send the new settings to the TT4 (or MTT4B)
?
By running RESTORE and ensuring the TT4 is in a known state, any setting that may have been causing problems should be fixed.

Yea I¡¯ve been using teraterm but I¡¯m new to it. How do you resend the file back using teraterm?

While in the configuration menu you would just:
First, I found that modern serial ports and buffers may cause some timing issues so?
From the TeraTerm >Setup menu choose >Serial port ...
? ?Under Transmit Delay change the right box (msec/line) to 1.?
Then from the TeraTerm >File menu choose >Send File
Make sure the Binary box (bottom left) is "unchecked" (you are just sending the text file).
Navigate the Export file and select it, then hit <Open>.
?
If TeraTerm Local Echo is enabled, you will see the new setting followed by each settings old and new state.?
? ?{Variable} {new value}?
? ?{Variable} was {old value}?
? ?{Variable} is {new value}?
If Local Echo is unchecked, I believe you just see the old state and new state?
? ?{Variable} was {old value}?
? ?{Variable} is {new value}?

Thank you I¡¯ll give it a try¡

Ok Rob I did as you instrucked :

restored TT4
Issued Export Command?
Copied and pasted export data to a txt file
then sent file back to TT4
unpowered the TNC and powered back up.

Here is the file I sent back and only a few of these changes were made. The lat and long, paths 1 and 2 and the Tprotocal were not changed they remained default.? I am using a static location. I cant figure this out. I have experience with doing this with KPC-3 tnc's but this one I am scratching my head.?

These settings will be for a prt wide1-1 digi and I will use the gps when deployed. but for now just trying to get it to work right??

Not sure if you response indicates things "DID" change or didn't change.? Did the changes you made take?

A few things in the config that need to be fixed:
????BTEXT >/WIDE1-1 PRT DIGI
What is your intent here?? This will not do anything except send a BEACON out that says
?? ?APTT4>N0KQX-11 >/WIDE1-1 PRT DIGI
NOTE:? The WIDE1-1 is not a path element, but just part of the text being sent.

My suggested changes are highlighted below.
DIGIMY TRUE????????????? This is handy for testing.? You can send a message with a path that include your callsign to test the DIGI function
PATH1? WIDE1-??????????? This provide the proper path element, so your packet will be
PATH2 WIDE2-1?????????? Use % to make sure the element is empty (I prefer WIDE2-1 so it is DIGI'ed beyond fill-ins - recommended)
TSTAT >TEST DIGI????? No real difference here, but I think the '>' just means "status"
BTEXT?>PRT DIGI ????? Moved the path element to Path1 so that the TT4 will properly use it
ALIAS1 WIDE1???????????? This turns your TT4 into a WIDE1 (fill-in) DIGI - no need for the extra '-1', the TT4 handles that

If you change them one at a time in TeraTerm, they don't take either?
Did you set the Transmit Delay? box (msec/line) to 1 in TerTerm?
What does the output look like in TeraTerm?? Does it look like characters are missing?
