Having some time on my hands, I dug out my old TinyTrak3 which I hadn't used in years.
Upon powering up (13.8 v) the PWR LED illuminates, the CD and GPS LED flash 3 times, and the PTT LED flashes once.? There is 5 volts at pins 5 and 14.
With only the PWR LED illuminated, I've tried to configure the TT3 using the TinyTrak3config v1.4.6 and I get the following- TinyTrak3 not found : (TinyTrak3 v1.00) -upon clicking the version button.? I get the same results when I click the Read Config button, and nothing populates.? When attempting to write, I get the read version first dialog box.
When using a terminal program, the TT3 reports the same version number when upon power up and when prompted with a ESC V.
Can someone point me in the right direction?

Brad,
Try using the "SEND TONES" keys. If these work, and force the TT3 to transmit ( Just a red LED in this case), you will know that your cable is working, and that you can communicate with the TT3. You're probably having a serial port timing issue, and I suspect you are using a USB connection? If so, go into the Windows Device Manager, advanced settings, and turn off the FIFO Buffer. Odds are, this will fix your problem.

Appears to be a version issue. The configuation application is for firmware v1.03 and your TT3 has v1.00. Have you tried TeraTerm or other terminal program and just tried listing the settings?
I am sure there is a luist of commands that can be used in a terminal program.

I just checked.? It appears there are upgrade options for the TT3 firmware. You should look into thaf option, and then match the config withe ghe firmware.

Rob,
The newest Configuration program, v1.4.6, is compatible with almost every TT3-based product, including? Micro-Trak products. Since Brad said this was a very old TT3, it probably has a PIC 16F644 in it, which does not have a bootloader, so he won't be able to upgrade the firmware without upgrading the PIC to the newer version chip ( Which of course would come pre-loaded with the TT3 firmware) It's about a twenty dollar product from Byonics. You can't just buy the 2 buck chip from Mouser, because the blank chip does not have the Byonics bootloader on it.

I appreciate everyone's time and advice!
I was guessing my PIC version might be an issue, but I wanted to give it a try.
I'm going to order a new TT3+ kit as well as a built TT4 to mess with.? I'll try the 3+ PIC in my older TT3 and if it's smooth sailing, I'll order 3 more TT3 PIC's for my older TT3's

I got my shipment from Byonics yesterday which included of a TT3Plus kit.? I installed the included PIC into my old TT3? Version 1.01 and all is fine.
